OCZGXS700 purchased in 3/07 and around 4/10 I started having weird issues, bluescreens, hdd boot failures etc. I figured it was my motherboard. Well I moved my PC the other week and for whatever reason it would not boot up. I haven't been able to get my hands on an adequate power supply until today. Well a 500w CoolerMaster works fine. The OCZ will also boot an older AGP MSI board with a Radeon 9800. Is this planned obsolescence or has anyone heard of this before? It will barely spin my fans and won't do shit to my 8800GTS when plugged into my GA-965P.

You might want to get a warranty replacement.

Well I tried that, but unfortunately these Libyans stole the the rest of my plutonium. Judging by the intelligence of your post and how much of an impact this answer had on my overall issue I can assume you're familiar enough with time travel to know that without such plutonium, my options are quite limited. Or was that your exact line of thought and you were merely using this "corsair" theory as a direct metaphor to suggest that much like the flux capacitor, my OCZ also lacks the nuclear power required to operate at full capacity?

OCZ is a middle of the road brand, and after 3 years now, its very likely it is just hitting the end of its lifespan...I wouldn't bother running that system with it, because supplying inadequate power like that can damage components, specifically the GPU and CPU. I would say just upgrade to a new PSU, as was mentioned, Corsair is an excellent brand, the Corsair 650TX would be my recommendation.

OCZ honored my warranty even though they technically could have told me to get fucked. RMA issued and new PSU should be on the way this week. Thanks for nothing Tech Talk Brain Trust!I kid, I kid, Corsair will definitely be the next brand I purchase thanks for the recommendation. My 2007 shopping cart was pulled from AnandTech's Buyer's Guide at that time and I got a lot of flack for SuperTalent RAM, but it's been fuckin' stellar. I just had to RMA a 2GB Crucial Ballistix kit that is probably 2 years newer. Everything else I purchased at that time has stood solid for 3 years now and I'm glad I don't have to worry about upgrading for another couple of months. I'm basically turning this machine into a dedicated HTPC/torrentbox/archive.http://www.anandtech.com/show/2156/6[Edited on June 22, 2010 at 1:28 AM. Reason : ]

Glad to hear you are getting a new one. Fyi in the future the Modstream line from OCZ is better than the Gamestream or Silentstream.
