But are just too lazy. Post em here. Maybe someone else will pick them up.I'd like an application I could check into when I go backpacking/hiking. It would have designated emergency contacts through facebook and if I didn't check out within the time that I designated, it would alert these people and tell them my last/current GPS coordinates, along with a suggestion to give me a call to check up on me.

I've been meaning to write an app that uses your GPS location and uses blob-tracking algorithms on radar data to give you an ETA for rainfall arrival. I have working MATLAB code for the blob tracking. You would need to use a morphing convection technique to to get the ETAs close to correct. My main limiting factor is that I don't know shit about coding for any sort of mobile device.

^that sounds freaking baller.Everyone but Apple can be programmed in Java, which would also mean you can port it to a web app or something someone can download as a novelty program.

a hospital emergency room wait time app that pulls all the surrounding ERs, distance from your GPS location, and wait times at each one and plots out a route to the best choice for you, giving you options for different injury levels

^^I think he meant that it does a time estimation for the next stop, and which one is closest to you. NCSU's version, while great in it's own regard, does not do this.[Edited on June 7, 2010 at 9:41 AM. Reason : .]

There is not a good bet tracking app out there for people that use their "guys" to make bets... Ive looked at ALL of them (unless it came out in the last month or so)Also one where you enter what you want to eat and the radius to search for and it gives you the prices at various places. Kind of like Price Grabber but for food and local places

I would love to develop an app for Krispy Kreme, to put a GPS/electronic sensor on all their Hot'Now signs so the app could find the nearest KK when the red light comes on It could send notifications, give directions, etc, based on current location.

^I was just telling someone about that idea of ours from almost 15 years ago. We were well ahead of our time with apps for phones
