ive noticed that VIEWS stay at 0 until all of a sudden its 50, and they only seem, for a large part, stay rounded to multiples of 10.is this just me? or is this some bug

the views are counted in memory because persisting them to the database on every view would be too intensive.i used to persist them on every reply, or when the topic cache expires.now i persist them once they get to 50 views, or when the topic cache expires.if the application resets unexpectedly, oh well, the views are gone. big deal

I remember the good old days when they would get persisted on every refresh... i was actually the pioneer padder. I kept my "getting naked is fun" thread at the highest viewed thread for the longest time, while it had no replies. In fact, I believe Eulogist even made a thread about it. good times.[Edited on August 31, 2002 at 3:00 PM. Reason : s]
