Hi,I graduated from State in May. I was wondering if I decided to re-admit to NCSU, will I have to take all new Gen Ed courses towards another degree, or or will my previous Gen Ed courses count? Also, if I were to go to another school, would they count (as long as schools accepted transfer hours from undergraduates).Thanks.

I would assume they would still count, considering you can double major and receive 2 degrees without having to take general classes twice. As far as transferring them to another school, that would depend on the school. I am pretty sure you can go to any state college and they will transfer, but if you transfer to a private school or a school out of state then what transfers is at their discretion.Of course, I could be totally wrong on both points.

i believe coursework is valid for a limited amount of time (10 years, maybe?)...after that, you have to re-take some classes, but even then i think it's subject to review and can be waived on a class-by-class basisin any case, you should be fine if you do another degree at state in the relatively near future...also pretty sure that most basic courses will transfer (credit, not grade) to any other nc state school...even most private schools (again, just basic courses)

i considered trying to to get a bsme (i already have a masters in civil/structural) because i figured it would just be a few more classes.. then they told me that the humanities requirements changed and i would have to take literature classes (when i did undergrad it was literature or history and i chose history).. it ended up being like 46 more hours* of classes.. in the end it would have been easier for me to get a masters in mechanical * i really thought some of the classes from my MCE would transfer, like finite and structural dynamics, but the mech adviser i emailed said it wouldnt since the course i took did not have the MAE prefix... not sure how relavent this is to the original post, but keep in mind that requirements can change and some of the classes you were expecting to transfer may not.
