Thinking about buying a car from there this weekend, but they said they don't negotiate the price. Is this really true or did I just get the wrong salesguy on the wrong day?

Also, from an earlier thread on TWW they came highly recommended but it was pointed out that they specialize in salvage cars. The car I'm looking at does not say it is salvaged, but should I be worried?

Any other commentary on this business?

If you think prices at a used car dealership are not negotiable, I don't know what to tell you.

Well ok... I figured that. Even regardless, I was planning on just making an offer and seeing what they'd say. The sales guy told me that when they were about ~5 min from closing so I was figuring he just wanted to get home

Just don't be fooled by lines like "I won't even be making anything if I sell it for less than X" and don't buy the ole "10 people came to look at this car today". Research about what the car is worth, know what you want to pay for it, and go in offering a little bit less than that.

And always be prepared to walk away. As long as you're not lowballing the shit out of them most used car lots aren't gonna let you just drive off. The last car I bought, I had a dude chase me down to tell me he'd take the offer as I was pulling out of the lot

Oh well.. I emailed them my offer and they turned it down out of hand I don't think I lowballed them. I offered KBB for dealer resale on my first offer (implying I can move up from that) and they were just like "nah bro nah"

Business is business, though... No hard feelings. I might even take my car there to get some service. I'm glad I found them, just wish they weren't overpriced on this car. I think their salvage vehicles are nicely priced but non-salvage vehicles they add a little bit more markup than most dealers.

Westgate Imports sells salvage title cars, that's why they are cheaper than everybody else.

dont make a offer over the internet.. thats easy to turn down. GO there, SHake the guys hand, and make a offer. If you can, bring a bag of green paper with pictures of dead guys on it. They will be lots more likely to take your offer that way.

^^ I fundamentally disagree with that type of salesmanship. There are plenty of other dealers that are willing to make a deal over the internet. This is 2010... If they want to pass up a sale just because it is online, that's their loss.

For the record, after they turned my offer down, I made another offer to certified dealer and bought the same type of car (but newer model) for only a thousand more.

I don't feel like driving all over town just to cater to technophobic salespeople. My time is valuable too...

Eh, 90% of the time people like you are just wasting the salesman's time anyway. It's an acceptable loss not to have to deal with the socially awkward and financially poor.
