I need a mouse with at least a 15 ft range. I bought a gigabyte 2.4GHz mouse that claims to have this but the god damn thing is driving me crazy with performance problems. The left click works on and off at times and I am about to break this god damn thing. If anyone has any personal experience with a mouse that can demonstrate a decent range (preferrably not bluetooth for battery reasons), then please put your two cents in.

i have the microsoft entertainment 7000 desktop that i picked up for less than $40 on ebay almost 2 years ago...i know you said you'd prefer it not be bluetooth, but you're not going to get good range out of anything elsei use mine 12-15 feet away and it's perfect...the batteries in the keyboard are STILL the original...i have to charge the mouse every 3-4 weeks, but i don't put it up on its charging dock when i'm not using it

It's been a while since I've had a windows box but are you still screwed if you use a Bluetooth keyboard when trying to use bios or have they added support for that now?

^^ i'm having a hard time finding the range on that thing...^ my 2yo low-end computer does just fine with the bluetooth mouse and keyboard*shrug*

Supposedly you have to have a Bluetooth adapter that supports USB HID, but from what I've heard that's still hit or miss depending on your Mobo. It might not be as big of a problem these days. While I think that 2.4Ghz is the way to go for any desktop wireless, I really like my laptop's travel mouse to be Bluetooth so I don't worry about losing the USB adapter.

this is what I am using now and I love the mouse feel but the range performance is so randomly flaky that I can't stand it anymore.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826146004&cm_re=wireless_mouse-_-26-146-004-_-Product

battery life isn't that bad on my bluetooth mouse. why is it such an issue? i mean, the batteries last several months..

If you can get that much time out of them, then BT is fine I guess. I just didn't want to have to constantly be buying triple or double A batteries.[Edited on April 23, 2010 at 2:19 PM. Reason : .]

i use the microsoft notebook mouse 5000...granted, it tends to be pretty close to the receiver and i only use it for about 10 hours per week, but it's lasted months so far without needing new batteries

move the mouse away from the speaker

ok let me rephraseI am looking for something that is $50 or less. I cannot justify a $100 mouse.

^whoa whoa whoa. You wanted a solution to a problem, and the $50 perameter was not in the list For what it's worth I freaking love mine. I have a kiosk setup with it, the screen and keyboard run USB over CAT5 and the mouse is straight wireless (it was apparently eating up bandwidth - all kinds of problems when I tried running it over CAT5.)

microsoft wireless mobile mouse 6000 with bluetrack, $30 with free shipping: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=210921306should give you 30 feet if there's no interference...15 feet should be pretty feasible

microsoft wireless mobile mouse 6000 exactly what i have. I'm not satisfied with it because I game. wheel scrolls too fast and the settings for it don't fix it. I got to reach up and hit 4 to throw grenade now, it sucks. also it hits dead spots on my desk and it eats up batteries. anything you use as much as you mouse, don't be cheap.
