I am probably going to be doing this up in Joilet, IL with some guys from work. EXTREME!!
4/12/2010 7:31:37 PM
Glad you brought this up. We need to figure out:Arrangements for getting there (I can haul 4 people comfortably, 5 snug, and 6 if we need too. Should have plenty of room for bags.)Arrangements for sleeping (Are we staying one night or two? Camping out or hotel?)

Finally, the point of the thread is comprehended.

I am contemplating using body paint and painting my entire body like the flash and running the race. Most likely I won't, but it's an idea.

my friend runs a store that specializes in body paint...here is her facebookhttp://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=219895510123

hot damn I loved this game
4/12/2010 9:40:01 PM
NOtel. Warriors don't sleep indoors. We should figure out if campgrounds need to be reserved though.
4/12/2010 9:40:06 PM
I am not TUFF
4/12/2010 9:41:55 PM
I didn't know TWW had a team. Me and a buddy of mine are doing the one in Georgia on May 22nd. Honestly, I don't think it will be that bad at all. 3.2 miles is nothing. Should be a fun party afterwards though. Are ya'll dressing up?
4/12/2010 9:48:23 PM
What leg are you in? Also, Skwinkle wants everyone to wear coordinating costumes from the internet.[Edited on April 12, 2010 at 9:50 PM. Reason : Just to represent the internet not from the internet.]
4/12/2010 9:50:11 PM
I'm in the 4:30 race. Campground is fine with me. Someone needs to get on that. If space is limited we can't just HOPE for a place to stay/park.
4/13/2010 12:03:11 AM
They added another day, apparently. When did that happen? There's now another one on Sunday. All the slots before 4 are full for that one though. I'll look into campgrounds today. I forget what time I have on Saturday. 1:30 I think. Something like that.
4/13/2010 9:19:10 AM
The close campgrounds linked to the Warrior Dash site are full. Not a big surprise there. So we have some options:Lake Russell - ~30 minutes away. Does not allow reservations so we'd have to risk it, and if we did that I'd recommend getting there by at least Thursday to stake out a spot, if we can (no idea how the availability is at these things, so trying to do that may be very dumb). Does have bathroom/shower facilities. 31 sites, $12-14 per nightLake Winfield Scott - ~1 hour away. Does take reservations, and as of right now has a campground for 10 people available for $24/night. Does have bathroom/shower. DeSoto Falls - ~1 hour away. Does not take reservations. Does have bathroom/shower. 23 sites $12/dayWildcat campgrounds - ~45 minutes away. Does not take reservations. No bathroom/shower. 23 sites, $10/day. Can't find too much info on this one online. And I found some more that don't take reservations and don't have bathroom facilities and are about an hour away, if we have trouble with all these. I think we should either try to stake out Lake Russell a few days in advance or book Winfield Scott and drive a little further to get to the race. Input please.
4/13/2010 10:42:39 AM
Damn, there are A TON of FB pages devoted to this. I found another one:http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=219895510123
4/13/2010 10:46:47 AM
I have to work on Friday. So I couldn't leave until Friday evening but I could meet up other people at a campground. Bathroom + shower is good. Are those rates per person or for the group?Anywhere less than an hour away is fine as well.I recommend this:Get us a reservation for the one place that takes them. We'll call the other places before we leave to see if there are spots available. If one group wants to head down there on Thursday to claim a spot, cool. I can bring others on Friday too. If we can't claim a spot at another place, we can always fall back on the reservation one. Make it so.
4/13/2010 10:55:39 AM
That's what I was thinking too. I am going to go ahead and book the 10 person one for Friday and Saturday nights. The rates are for the group. Or I guess technically per campsite, which should be for all of us unless more people than I think are going to end up there.
4/13/2010 10:58:22 AM
there are a bunch of us going in on a nice hotel suite...if you want in, just join in on the discussionhttp://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=219895510123

OK, we are booked for campsite 11 here http://www.recreation.gov/camping/map_of_Lake_Winfield_Scott_Rec_Ga/r/campgroundMap.do?page=map&search=site&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=75347&topTabIndex=CampingSpot Not far from the bathrooms and not right up on other campsites. You are allowed to swim in the lake, and it says there's a sand beach. I put us down for 10 people and 4 cars because that's the max we are permitted at this site. So if they ^ are still going they can get in on what we already have booked. HIKING - There are day-use hiking trails within the Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area ideal for a short stroll, including one which parallels the lakeshore (.4 mi). In addition, the Jarrard Gap Trail (1 mi.) and Slaughter Creek Trail (2.7 mi) begin the Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area and connect to the Appalachian Trail.[Edited on April 13, 2010 at 11:31 AM. I work on weekends so that would be like at least $150-200 I'd miss out on. I'd rather attend hike night and Peter's graduation than this. Sorry guys.

I am 1:30. I tried running last week and realized there's no way I'm going to be able to run 3.2 miles any time soon. So I guess I'm going to walk it and look all failey. Which means I need to make up for that with some sort of glorious attire. I need ideas people.
