I've recently gotten back into collecting after a long period of neglect. My grandad was a wholesaler for convenience stores in Eastern NC, so I used to get boxes of Topps or Upper Deck baseball and football cards each year from about 1987 to 1994. I also used to buy at least a pack a week of Donruss or Fleer, as well as NBA Hoops, until Middle School. My dad gave me his collection of 1955-1965 Topps and Post baseball and football cards as well. Needless to say, I've got a shit ton of cards I need to get organized in a better way.

Post your best/favorite/most expense/most obscure cards here. Also, if you attend shows or have experience in trading/selling cards, post about that here, too. I'm re-learning this all since it's been since about 1996 since I've really cared.

My top 3 favorite cards:

1956 Duke Snider, Topps

1964 Mickey Mantle, Topps

1960 Stan Musial, Topps

I used to think that I was hot shit when I got this card in a pack

but the card was always worth ~$10 every couple of years I checked

of course, I had the same feeling when I opened my first pack of Star Wars:CCG and got

I haven't been to a card show in years, but I was recently flipping through some, and was wondering if it was even worth selling now. I know the cards I have are valued pretty high, but should I take what I can get now or wait and hope they become popular again?

I was a big tony pena fan when he was with the red sox. my brother managed to find his rookie card, which he shared with two other pirates back in 81, and gave it to me for my birthday

if you're serious about selling your high value cards, think about getting them graded.

I started as a Buffalo Bills fan when I was younger (the Panthers hadn't been formed yet and the Bills were always on TV). My parents gave me this OJ card for a birthday in 92, and it's probably the only card I still have.

Yeah, I have some newer cards that I used to think would break the bank in 10 years. Now they might bring me $5, mostly because of steroids/injuries/failures by those players.

I have rookies for Manny Ramirez (this one's in a case to make sure it stays mint), Gary Sheffield, Frank Thomas, Curt Schilling (might bring something in Boston, but fuck that asshole), Dave Stewart, Steve Sax, Mitch Williams (yeah Wild Thing), Mike Scott, Orel Hersheiser, David Justice (ha!), Tom Glavine (still might be good), John Smoltz (ditto), Greg Maddux (double ditto), Jose Canseco (lol), Robin Ventura, Deion Sanders (I wonder...), and in football, Jim Kelly, Troy Aikman, Cortez Kennedy, and a bunch of others I forgot (I have a massive amount of unsorted Sky Box NFL cards I got because I was in a Sky Box focus group).

My best basketball card, the one I keep on display, is this one:

ALIEN ROOKIE CARD

The one set I am the angriest about selling was a box of Series 1 Simpsons trading cards. I traded them to a kid at school for a haul of comic books. They weren't even great ones, mostly just some Silver Surfers and X Men from the 1980s. Cool stuff, but the Series 1 Simpsons box is going for $239 on Amazon. I didn't watch the show back then so I had no interest in it.
