sedan.
3/30/2010 6:59:29 PM
^^ Doesn't explain the spoiler ...Fenders protrude little more to me. Has a sedan (non-hatch) look too.And doesn't match this profile of the "old" STI:NON-56K compatible: http://images.newcars.com/images/car-pictures/original/2009-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-Coupe-Hatchback-Base-4dr-All-wheel-Drive-Hatchback-Exterior-Profile.png[Edited on March 30, 2010 at 7:05 PM. Ok, I couldn't help but wonder. So, I made a gif... It's definitely a sedan of some sorts.[Edited on March 30, 2010 at 7:35 PM. Reason : sedan version]
3/30/2010 7:20:37 PM
I like the current model. I wish the "wagon" or "hatch" model actually had a bigger storage area than the regular sedan but it doesn't.I guess i really wish there was a legacy gt with brembo brakes.
3/30/2010 8:35:06 PM
The new WRX are getting teh STI widebody kits for 2011. so maybe the STIs are getting EVER BIGGER WINGS.

its pretty obvious they're releasing an STI sedan. This has been bouncing around car msg boards for weeks
3/31/2010 1:12:22 PM
i think they're going to have a sedan and a hatch/wagon version.. this teaser looks like a wagon with a bigger wing
3/31/2010 3:04:17 PM
nope.
3/31/2010 3:26:12 PM
3/31/2010 4:04:58 PM
3/31/2010 4:07:53 PM
^^^^A hatch version of what? Something like the hatch that already exists? Are you suggesting they're going to make 2 hatch versions?*scratches head*
3/31/2010 4:15:00 PM
yea, that's what one site said... a new sti sedan and a similar hatch to the current/old one just with a bigger wing
3/31/2010 4:19:48 PM
Yo dawg, I heard you like hatches, so I made a hatch version of the hatch version, so you can....???
3/31/2010 4:47:54 PM
pop yo hatch while you pop yo hatch?
3/31/2010 4:48:50 PM
a source told me they are going to offer the new subaru diesel in the STi as an optionhttp://www.drive.subaru.com/summer07_diesel.htm
3/31/2010 4:49:35 PM
^^ bingo!
3/31/2010 4:55:46 PM
^^ i bet a boxer turbo diesel sounds weird.

i like the sedan better than the hatch version, and that widebody is hot too

4/1/2010 11:29:01 PM
I like it, but the lack of a horsepower increase is pretty lame. Around anything but a very tight track a Camaro SS will mop the floor with an STI, for $5k less.
4/2/2010 12:22:12 AM
wtf made you compare a camaro to a subie...3880lbs vs 3400lbs?420hp vs 305hprwd vs awdi don't know about you but i'd rather not take a barge to a track day
4/2/2010 1:19:42 AM
I want dat 360 Challenge Stradale son. Sub-2700lbs (Hell, it's barely over 2600lbs dry) is where the real fun lies son.Shit son, even the springs are made out of titanium to reduce weight. I've always been impressed by the 360 Challenge race car (The looks, the fact that the engine sounds so sickeningly bad ass, etc) and thus I've wanted a Challenge Stradale since I first saw one. That car is a serious piece of engineering artwork. ]

^^^probably b/c they're both sports cars that are $30k plus. Everyone used to covent (mainly when they weren't available in the US) the STi and Evo b/c they were Mustang/Camaro killers for similar coin. Now, not so much.
4/2/2010 8:11:01 AM
^ This is a good thing. It's not that Subaru and Mitsubishi are slacking. Ford and Chevrolet have stepped up their game immensely. Gotta love competition. I really want to get a ride in the 2011 Mustang when it hits the streets.
4/2/2010 8:21:59 AM
4/2/2010 8:31:48 AM
^^I'm inclined to agree with you, Chevy and Ford have done a great job! However, my beef with Subaru and Mitsubishi is that while the performance has stayed the same for the last 8 years or so, the prices have gone up up up
4/2/2010 8:53:59 AM
Oh yeah...Not a fan of the price increases. I'd like to attribute it to amenities and R&D costs on the drivetrain systems, but I can't help but to think that they've gone a little overboard. The new WRX at ~$27k is a nice alternative to the STi's inflated price. It's hard not to notice the irony that the only reason the WRX is $27k is because it's own price has gone up so much in recent years though.[Edited on April 2, 2010 at 9:45 AM. Reason : l]
4/2/2010 9:45:30 AM
Yeah, I bought my '04 for $23K brand new. It's gone up SIGNIFICANTLY. Of course, there are a lot more features than mine ever had. And better performance. So, there's not much room to complain. But, if I was in the market, not sure if I'd want to dish out that much.[Edited on April 2, 2010 at 10:12 AM. Reason : ummm]

http://www.insideline.com/subaru/impreza-wrx-sti/2011/2011-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-at-nurburgring.html7:55 at the ring?!?! that's quickest of any sti/evo yet. the evo ix ran something like 8:07 i believe. evos of every generation are faster than the respective sti, and the evo x wasn't really an improvement over the ix.priced at just under 34k. cheaper than the 2008. this might be the best bang for your buck car yet. new of course...
9/20/2010 8:40:40 AM
That makes it the fastest sedan... besting the CTS-V's 7:59.
9/20/2010 11:11:25 AM
It does indeed. Ahmet and I had a talk about this lap time yesterday. He pointed out that the Japanese tend to be a little less truthful. In the pictures you can clearly see the car has a spliter. I'm sure it's the official STI splitter which will undoubtedly be available from Subaru. I doubt they're running r-comps, but I guess I wouldn't be blown away if they did.[Edited on September 20, 2010 at 11:20 AM. Reason : ]
9/20/2010 11:19:25 AM
Just wait til the STI with dual-clutch comes out, it will probably break $40K at that point
9/20/2010 12:37:40 PM
^^^^That time is nothing new. And it wasn't done by a stock production car.
9/20/2010 2:20:37 PM
^got anymore to add?
9/20/2010 2:31:13 PM
it was discussed ad naseum on plenty of car msg boards, so no.
9/20/2010 2:35:27 PM
Too bad the STi can now be considered underpowered.
9/20/2010 4:49:57 PM
that's what happens when you barely change the power levels for almost ten years.
9/20/2010 6:19:02 PM
still one of the fastest 0-60 times of anything in its price range but i agree i really hope an H6 turbo comes out soon.
9/30/2010 8:20:50 PM
b/c it has AWD. That doesn't mean much anywhere b/c nobody does 5,000 rpm clutch drops on the reg.
9/30/2010 11:19:33 PM
yeah "magazine times" for 0-60 and 1/4 mile on an AWD car are usually skewed because they are beating the piss out of the drivetrain
