Yeah, watched this earlier and it's pretty awesome how well it does the job.
3/24/2010 1:57:56 PM
When do we get this??
3/24/2010 2:05:56 PM
Holy Shit
3/24/2010 2:13:37 PM
damn that is brilliant.
3/24/2010 2:32:34 PM
this might be one of the most significant new features in photoshop in a long long time.
3/24/2010 2:32:58 PM
I remember doing the same thing when they came out with Vanishing Point in CS3.
3/24/2010 2:36:10 PM
Damn. Awesome is an understatement.
3/24/2010 2:44:47 PM
now even dummies like me may be able to photoshop!
3/24/2010 3:06:44 PM
wow ... I wonder if it can do a fill on the drool that just stained my shirt ... that would be sweet.
3/24/2010 4:37:39 PM
I came.
3/24/2010 4:50:38 PM
I showed this to my boss and her response was "wow that would work wonders on ex's" haha
3/24/2010 5:05:23 PM
the desert example was crazy
3/24/2010 5:05:49 PM
^with the road? yeah...i did not expect that result! with the first example you can see that some additional work would be needed with the leaf under the bench but damn...still cuts out 95% of the task.
3/24/2010 5:07:10 PM
wait a goddamn minuteCS4 already had content-aware image scaling?HOW THE FUCK DID I NOT KNOW THIS?
3/24/2010 5:23:19 PM
It doesn't yet that was a preview.
3/24/2010 5:26:29 PM
scale, not fill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=019mu8FTy6Mdate on that is 2008
3/24/2010 5:28:25 PM
WTF i did not know that either!
3/24/2010 5:31:07 PM
It should be included in CS5The guy in the video is using it as a plug-in on CS4 I believe.
3/24/2010 5:44:12 PM
wat is this i dont even
3/24/2010 5:47:07 PM
god this will make my life easier.so this feature will be patched in or what?
3/24/2010 5:51:12 PM
^ new feature is CS5 or whatever they'll call the next version
3/24/2010 6:00:57 PM

3/24/2010 9:46:36 PM
That. Is. Awesome!
3/24/2010 11:03:00 PM
...whoa.
3/25/2010 12:56:46 AM
srsly, I don't believe that last image is possible
3/25/2010 7:03:44 AM
^I'm also skeptical about that and the desert image. I can't even imagine how the algorithms that drive that could work.
3/25/2010 11:22:38 AM
^,^^So ... what you're saying is, the images look Photoshopped? [Edited on March 25, 2010 at 11:31 AM. Reason : .]
3/25/2010 11:31:17 AM
If you look carefully at the desert image, it looks like someone with a lot of time and patience used the rubber stamp tool. The panoramic is the one that really got me. The far right edge where the hill top is, you would think it would just extend it in the direction it already was going (up) but no, it sculpts a hill with a downward slope.
3/25/2010 11:32:06 AM
wow
3/25/2010 11:49:53 AM
3/25/2010 1:14:48 PM
just saw thisholy fuck
3/25/2010 2:02:03 PM
this is already in gimp, called resynthesizer
3/26/2010 12:53:12 PM
Where have you guys been? This has been in CS4 Extended edition since launch day...And the tech is available for free via sourceforge, Adobe simply got permission to embed it into their program. The algorithm was developed as a doctorate thesis.
3/26/2010 1:49:49 PM
Oh please, as if we all keep up with the latest mathematical docorate thesis that are published.
3/26/2010 2:35:46 PM
3/26/2010 2:38:55 PM
^^^ Know where I can find that dissertation? I'd like to read it.
3/26/2010 2:55:27 PM
The smart fill/enlarge feature has been available in a GIMP plugin for some time now. The version you download at http://www.logarithmic.net/pfh/resynthesizer is broken. I fixed it:http://dejaviews.org/f/resynthesizer-for-WindowFIXED.zipIt works a charm. It has its limits, but for quick background retouching it's fantastic.I did this in 30 seconds:[Edited on March 27, 2010 at 12:57 AM. Reason : Sorry for the bad quality, I just grabbed an original still from the youtube video to work with.]
3/27/2010 12:30:29 AM
I've never used photoshop, but holy hell, the vid the OP posted was just amazing.
3/27/2010 12:46:37 AM
wtf is gimp, we use photoshop here
3/27/2010 1:20:57 PM
rofl, the leg shadow on that gimp image kinda fails
3/27/2010 1:27:40 PM
Operator error.
3/28/2010 9:26:11 AM
^^to Gimp's credit, the leg shadow on the PS video also fails. though not as much.
3/28/2010 9:51:22 AM
