Good recruits coming. Should be a return to the dance.

this is bound to work. every time I make it, the best they can muster is 22-25 wins
3/17/2010 1:17:50 AM
And no wins of any significance either! So yeah let's try it out--can't hurt.**Year 19 of the Herb Sendek coaching experiment** This could be the year for his first conference title and perhaps 2nd Sweet 16.[Edited on March 17, 2010 at 1:26 AM. Reason : f]

so....Herb has a 5 man class coming in next year:Keala King from Mater Dei (CA). probably play the 3, but his high school coach seems to think he can run the pointCorey Hawkins of Estrella Foothills (AZ). all-time state of Arizona career scorer. had a few 50+ point games this year. won't do too much next year, but should be a starter by his soph yearJordan Bachynski of some overseas Mormon mission. 7-footer who got a UConn offer before he left for his missionChanse Creekmur of Iowa. Horner type player. gifted QB in high school tooBrandon Dunson of some IL junior college. should challenge McMillan for PG duty next yearstarting 5 should be:McMillan - SRAbbott - SRKuksiks - SRLockett - SOPateev - SOplaying in the Alaska Shootout, playing Texas Tech, Baylor and Gonzaga

3/17/2010 1:38:07 AM
i'm looking forward to this thread. next year should be an interesting year.it's never easy, losing your four-year starting PG...and all-time leading games starter...and all-time leading FT shooter....and school-record assists....and best career A/T ratiothe X-factor is how well Jamelle does.....oh, and who the hell (Rohde, Pateev or Bachynski) starts at center
3/17/2010 1:41:08 AM
Is Glasser the all-time ft shooter you mentioned? That would suck being his final act as player was a free throw fail that lead to the loss. No sarcasm intended, I always liked him.[Edited on March 17, 2010 at 1:46 AM. Reason : f]
3/17/2010 1:45:24 AM
yeah, that's a bad way to go out. oh well, he'll be a good coach one day ...and he's richer than a motherfucker
3/17/2010 1:46:44 AM
Haha for real? What does his family do for a living?
3/17/2010 1:47:20 AM
his dad is the founder of 7 For All Mankind, maker of very high end jeans and other denim. estimated net worth = $68 M

In some sort of defense, the Pac-10 was actually pretty good the last few years before this one. It's not like it was the SEC or anything. UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Wazzou and USC have all been VERY GOOD teams in the last five years. It was just a perfect storm of suck this year.[Edited on March 17, 2010 at 9:32 AM. Reason : x]
3/17/2010 9:32:38 AM
Yeah, and while the ACC was better than the PAC-10 this year, there were some similarities...both conferences were down, in large part due to UNC/UCLA being down...but I mean they really sucked this year
3/17/2010 9:35:55 AM
Corey Hawkins was named Gatorade Arizona High School Player of the Year
3/18/2010 8:17:45 PM
great start to this thread
3/19/2010 1:08:32 AM
i am ready to hear more about how amazing of a coach herb sendek is regardless of his lack of significant results.
3/19/2010 1:20:55 AM
i am ready to watch you guys climb over each other to refute ncstatetke's relatively innocuous statements
3/19/2010 2:05:10 AM
id be pissed if we were overrated and lost in the first round of the NIT
3/19/2010 4:59:18 AM
don't you have to be rated first in order to be overrated?i guess technically they were rated at one point. the Pac-10 media "rated" them as the preseason 7th best (out of 10) team in the conference.
3/19/2010 10:38:43 AM
Why are you guys even responding to this thread? It's March. Their season is over.
3/19/2010 10:41:52 AM
Herb is a studio analyst on CSTV's tournament highlight show...
3/21/2010 12:14:01 AM

3/21/2010 12:14:50 AM
It's on nowHerb's put on some weightThey first showed him from the side and I asked "who's the fat Herb Sendek guy?"

^Both Cal and Washington are pretty good, and they got shitty seeds because of how weak the Pac-10 was perceived to be, but having 2 teams play well in the tournament doesn't change the fact that the Pac-10 as a whole sucked balls this year.
3/21/2010 1:00:47 PM
TEAMS THAT HAD 2009 FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICANS--ONE YEAR LATERArizona State, James Harden (22-11 this year; 25-10 last year)Davidson, Stephen Curry (16-15 this year; 26-7 last year)North Carolina, Tyler Hansbrough (17-16 this year; 28-4 last year)Oklahoma, Blake Griffin (13-18 this year; 27-5 last year)Pitt, DeJuan Blair (24-8 this year; 31-5 last year)
4/11/2010 12:47:02 PM
I am looking forward to the Wildcats returning to the tourney, and to them beating ASU twice.
4/11/2010 1:21:48 PM
^^ so what youre saying is that herb is the worst coach at using a first team AA?
4/11/2010 1:45:39 PM
Herb + Harden + Southern Conference = 30 wins
4/11/2010 2:10:42 PM
That all american thing was interesting:for 2010Sherron Collins G Senior Kansas Wesley Johnson F Junior Syracuse Scottie Reynolds G Senior Villanova Evan Turner G Junior Ohio StateJohn Wall G Freshman KentuckyKansas will be good, but not near as good... Cuse, who knows. Nova could improve on their finish. Ohio State will be pretty good next year. Kentucky, IMO, would be a bubble team in a 65 team field next year.
4/11/2010 2:17:27 PM
thanks for the tame posti was expecting a flame from you or simonnnn
4/11/2010 2:19:24 PM
I want to make a thread about another basketball team and be tww's designated fan...My short list:ClemsonWichita StateKansasOregonWashingtonOhioList isn't final so I'm open to suggestions.
4/11/2010 2:38:56 PM
^How about Arizona? It'd be nice to have another Wildcats fan on this board...and they're probably going to improve fairly significantly.
4/11/2010 2:41:25 PM
Never really cared for Arizona. Plus there's already a team from Arizona with their own thread and resident TWW fan club
4/11/2010 2:42:39 PM
4/11/2010 2:50:35 PM
I'm thinking about taking Washington and Oregon out of the running. Thing is, I like Oregon's football team (spread option offense ftmfw) and that's swaying me.
4/11/2010 2:54:23 PM
How about California?Good school, good coach and a really cool arena/decent fans (for the Pac-10).
4/11/2010 3:07:01 PM
I'm a big fan of Cal academics, but have never really cared for their sports teams. The whole bear thing doesn't sit well with me (bears are, IMO, the scariest animal)set em up]
