A thread dedicated to musicians and aspiring musicians alike. Do you play an instrument or sing? In what capacity? What got you into it?

I've been playing music in some capacity since I was around 7 years old. My folks were never really that into music themselves, but we always had a piano and I vaguely remember my dad playing guitar when I was very young. I started out with piano lessons, then played in middle school band and one year of high school symphonic/marching band. I quit the band thing due to "creative differences" and picked up guitar. I've been playing guitar ever since. I've recorded a few things on my own, but they are really just ideas that I never get around to polishing up. I've never really developed passed "bedroom jammer" status and hate being the center of attention. I'm sometimes embarrassed to share my talent/ability, but whenever I see a live band at a bar or something I'll think "man, that looks like fun. I should do that".

When it comes to singing, I can't carry a tune in a bucket.

I play the harmonica, and pretty much only play blues and can get some folk sounds out of it....what i really need is a blues guitar to go with me so i can have some fun!!! Anyone play blues on guitar?

I've been playing since 2005 and am decent, but I think playing along with others would help out a lot. I used to listen to a lot of old grateful dead. They used to have a harpist named pig pen who died early on in the GD career, so they didnt have too many songs with harmonica in it. I got into muddy waters and eventually found little walter. Little Walter plays chicago blues and thats pretty much who i follow. I play every day pretty much as long as i'm not too busy. Its by far, one of the best things ive ever picked up. I enjoy it so much.

Play guitar. Started messing around in middle school and HS and then started playing seriously when I started my band back in 2003. We have recorded 3 albums, the most recent being recorded last fall and should be released this spring.
