It has been my experience in shopping for TV's in the last couple of months that it is easier to find a deal on a new set than to get as good of a deal on a used set. I scanned CL for months and wound up buying new with better specs for less than what anybody would take for used of the same size.[Edited on February 28, 2010 at 10:18 AM. Reason : .]

Six months ago I bought a barely used (less than 20 hours on the backlight) 37" Sharp LCD on Craislist. The guy wanted $750 for it, I paid him $350 and he delivered it to my house from buttfuck. All you have to do is search CL and email a lowball of everyone that has a TV for sale that you would be interested in. And I mean a serious lowball. Someone is gonna be desperate enough to give you a serious deal.
