I'm not sold on Jackie Haley's Freddy just yet.

yeh, he sounds just like he did in the Watchmen, which was perfect for that character, but Freddy is supposed to be a bit lighter and zany

I think this remake is trying to get away from the funny Freddy and go for the more serious dark/demented character. Not sure if I'll like that change or not, but I mean he did get progressively more comical, to the point it was a little ridiculous, but it worked, haha.

Looks like Freddy put some weight on his face and caught that virus that was going around the Dark Knight and Wolverine movie sets.

I saw it today. That guy is no Robert England, but the movie was decent. If both this version and any of the original series were on television at the same time I would chose those.

It felt like a really long prologue more than anything else.

Yeah it was okay.
I couldn't concentrate on the movie. These three dudes came in with plastic grocery bags and kept moving around the theater, giggling and skittering around like crackheads.

Good for startle scares, but yeah.

Pretty weak stuff, imo. I'll give you the startle scares, but other than that I thought it was pretty boring.

I wasn't much of a fan, but I think that is mostly because Freddy was what I grew up on. I mean, to a 10-year old kid, that is some scary shit. Obviously this movie wasn't that scary to me as an adult, but I highly doubt the old Nightmare on Elm Street movies would be scary anymore either. So it's more of a fake reality I have created vice the movie actually not being that great.

I will say Freddy seemed more "human" in this movie, which I didn't like. I would prefer he talked very little and just be this ominous dude who killed people in their sleep. But he seemed to have several conversations with the people he killed, which kind of made it less scary. And I also wasn't a big fan of the Freddy voice this time.

^I've never seen any of the Nightmare on Elm street movies, but I always pictured Freddy as tossing out bad puns left and right as he stalked his victims. Maybe my imagination is way off, but if not wouldn't the old movies have a comical undertone? Kinda hard to be ominous when your only lines in a movie are scooby-doo level puns.

I'm getting ahead of myself with that pun assumption. I'll have to watch those movies at some point. Especially the ones that look really bad, like Dream Warriors.

^through the million of sequels that happened after the first movie, this is pretty much what happened. Turned in to lots of comical deaths and bad puns.
