Ok, so... I have Verizon and I've been up for a new phone for months; I'm using a wicked shitty ENV1 and I'm going to be getting a new phone soon. Right now, I'm really thinking Android (since Verizon has a ton of phones with the Android OS) and I'm not sure if I should just get the Motorola Droid or HTC Eris (I really like the Eris' size/quickness) or if I should wait for the HTC Nexus One (sold exclusively through Google) and the HTC Incredible to be released. If any of you have the Droid/Eris or any other new smartphones for Verizon, suggestions would be sick.

this doesn't need its own thread. this doesn't hardly even justify a post. if you want a phone now, buy a droid... if you want to wait for the nexus one, wait.

After your contract expires, you should just be able to continue month-to-month if necessary, I would think.
2/23/2010 9:24:52 AM
i always though month-to-month is at a little bit of a higher rateif it is, NO DICEbut i haven't looked into it
2/23/2010 9:26:34 AM
should be the same price as you'll just continue paying what you're paying now but won't be under contract.

CDMA does not work overseas. You need to be on ATT and have a gsm phone with the right bands.

It has an SD card but no sim card. Only phones that have a sim card on verizon are the world phones (BB storms, world edition, tp2, etc) for overseas use or unlocked on at&t or tmobile. None of the other verizon phones have a sim card period. You can't believe 90% of what the reps say.[Edited on February 23, 2010 at 1:35 PM. Reason : ]

I stand corrected with the Eris & Droid, but as for the Nexus One...
2/23/2010 3:43:33 PM
He does that all the time
2/23/2010 3:46:30 PM
Wicked sick burn duuuuude...check back when you have the specs provided by Verizon.

Posting the current N1 specs is pointless. Those specs are for a GSM phone that doesn't even have verizon's cdma bands in it. There's a chance that Google could release a quad-band phone that would work on the verizon cdma network and have a sim card slot for gsm use but nothing points to that at this time. If you want a GSM phone, you'll need to get the N1 and use it on tmobile or at&t here in the US or get one of the droids coming to AT&T. FACT[Edited on February 23, 2010 at 3:57 PM. Reason : [/earl]]

Weird... the next two networks the Nexus One is coming out for are Verizon and Vodafone. Where's Vodafone from? (Europe...) If I
2/23/2010 4:01:00 PM
They'll have to modify the cellular radios to get it to work on verizon. Point is that no android phone currently (droid/eris) or near future (devour) on verizon have sim cards so they can't be used on GSM carriers in the US or in Europe.

my understanding is that NexusOne is quad-band, so it can do both CDMA & GSM so it would have a sim slot, albeit empty if your contract is with Verizon. if you travel to Europe you get a Vodafone (Europe company) SIM card that is distributed through Verizon so you can use your NexusOne overseas.

The tmobile N1 only has the GSM radio in it. That's why you can't bring it to verizon right now. It has the quadband GSM radio but nothing for CDMA. It's possible that the Verizon release could be a GSM/CDMA hybrid world phone but no one has confirmed or denied it.[Edited on February 24, 2010 at 11:18 AM. Reason : ]
