I've heard this phrase used multiple times today to describe the Saints winning the Superbowl. But its not like they were supreme underdogs that no one thought had a chance, nor did they win on an unbelievable last second play.It should be more like "Moderately entertaining in Miami"Thoughts?

I'm tired of people wanting to call things "Miracle in ______", or call outstanding catches in football "The Catch" and last second shots in basketball "The Shot". Those belong only to certain athletic events and are copied too often. I still contend that the two best name for a game/play is "The Immaculate Reception". There's so much mystery about that play too b/c of the video coverage during the game.

Everyone knows that Doug Flutie and Gerald Phelan are the only ones who can lay claim to that moniker

There is no such thing as destiny. There is no such thing as miracles. Stop being childish America. The Saints won the Super Bowl on their own. They did not have a divine intervention leading them to victory.

i don't think it's being called a miracle in that the saints were serious underdogs. i think it's a reference to the fact that historically new orleans is a god awful turd of a team, and for the new orleans saints to have won a superbowl must have been the result of some divine intervention.it's like if you went back in time to the '70s and told someone that sonny bono would become a congressman, they'd go
2/8/2010 6:40:34 PM
not really. would you think it was a miracle if someone told you ncstate won a championship in 2020?

yeah the game itself wasn't a miracle. It was outrageous the Saints were large underdogs given the fact they were just as good as the Colts and they were healthier. If they played that game 10 times I think the Saints win 4-6 of them. It was a mild upset at best.Saints to win the Superbowl bet coming thru $$$$$$$$

when you talk about "the game" its NCSU vs. UCLA 1974when you talk about "the shot" its Duke vs. Kentucky 1992when you talk about "the comeback" its Duke vs. Maryland 2001when you talk about "the upset" its NCSU vs Houston 1983when you talk about "the dumbass" its Michigan vs UNC 1993when you talk about "the gay" its Roy Williams, any year

^woah my mind has been blown

I thought "The Game" was NCSU vs. UMCP in 1974 (ACCT Final).

^what about rifle team? didn't we win nationals a couple years ago?

^If that happened this year or in any recent year they'd still be reviewing that play.
2/10/2010 8:25:26 AM
miracle??most people I know, including myself, had the Saints in a pretty good margin.
2/10/2010 8:47:14 AM

good win for the Saints, most likely will not make the playoffs next year......definitely not a dynasty in the making......sorry...
2/10/2010 3:10:51 PM
^ any reason why we won't make the playoffs? Any reason why we're "most likely" not to make the playoffs?
2/11/2010 4:36:10 PM
^because its the NFC South...bad things happen to the 1st place team from the previous season
2/11/2010 5:28:51 PM
I'm not usually for the 'Miracle' title either, but I'm okay with the "Molson Miracle" that the Canes had against the Canadians a few years ago in Montreal.Miracle in Miami is just gay.
2/12/2010 12:57:11 AM
the only game I will accept "miracle" for is the Miracle on Ice
