Ah Ha! Gotcha! You thought I was talking about James Cameron's Avatar...Avatar: The Last Air Benderhttp://www.thelastairbendermovie.comI used to watch the cartoon here and there, but it was lame at times. I think the movie will be just as lame if not more. M. Night Shyamalan flicks have been going downhill in the past few years.
2/5/2010 3:44:26 PM
well it might be okay because he is not writing the plot so no really lame plot twists

2/5/2010 10:43:30 PM
you expect me to pay money to watch a shyamalan film?
2/5/2010 10:44:29 PM
dang. you rickrolled me.

7/1/2010 1:59:41 PM
Yeah I've heard this is crap.Sucks because I liked the series.
7/1/2010 2:34:17 PM
Wow. Currently sitting at 6% on rottentomatoes. I was planning on seeing this. I'll have to read some of the reviews.
7/1/2010 2:47:06 PM
Disappointing. The graphics looked pretty cool but not worth sitting through if the movie is horrible.
7/1/2010 3:07:13 PM
WHAT IS TWIST?
7/1/2010 8:01:42 PM
ha ha ha ha ha I didn't remember making that post and clicked on the link in curiosityself pwnt
7/1/2010 11:26:34 PM
Didnt this open tonight?
7/1/2010 11:27:19 PM
Oh my god.I cant believe the reviews say its that bad. How do you fuck shit up this bad?
7/2/2010 12:06:55 AM
I somewhat had faith in Shyamalan as a non-writing director.I guess not.I'm sad.The show is good.
7/2/2010 12:07:43 AM
You know you fucked up when Ebert thinks your movie would be ten times better as anime.
7/2/2010 3:18:10 AM
^The movie is based off an anime series.
7/2/2010 3:37:20 AM
so, in this case, it's like saying a movie based on a book adaptation is better as a book....

Remind me again how fictitious people on an imaginary world are supposed to map to real-world ethnic groups.

7/2/2010 10:26:36 AM
C'mon, Frosh. We're talking about a character with an Indian name and a Tibetan origin story.Next you'll tell me Roosevelt Franklin isn't black.Anyway, the important thing is that hopefully this will be three strikes for M. Night. ]
7/2/2010 10:26:54 AM
I had this argument last night. I agree that the actors and actresses should ideally resemble the characters. If the character has olive skin and dark hair, cast a dude or dudette who has the same, right? But you can't call a motherfuckin' cartoon character from Pretendland Asian. You wanna show me on a map where in relation to fucking China the fucking Fire Nation lies?
7/2/2010 10:37:06 AM
Etymology would suggest it's somewhere around Bharatpur.
7/2/2010 11:21:10 AM
Culturally they were all Chinese with some Indian in the show, but ethnically it was impossible to tell. Seemed like a mix to me.

i though signs was pretty good when i saw it in theaters, but i haven't seen it since then. everything after was not.[Edited on July 2, 2010 at 12:37 PM. Reason : .]
7/2/2010 12:34:12 PM
Somehow I forgot Lady in the Water, which makes four consecutive strikes including this one.Other than the incredibly stupid water thing, Signs is tolerable.
7/2/2010 12:38:25 PM
they should have just had Rufio play Zuko
7/2/2010 5:20:20 PM
I've enjoyed all of Shamalans work. Haven't seen this though.
7/2/2010 11:05:55 PM
I think Unbreakable was a great flick.I didn't like signs6th sense was good the first time, but has absolutely zero repeat playability
7/2/2010 11:32:33 PM
for the OP: When I first heard about the James Cameron movie, I thought he was basing it on the cartoon, but it turned out to not be so lame
7/3/2010 1:31:38 AM
uh, yes it did.
7/3/2010 8:28:13 AM
Anyone see this yet? The trailers made me want to see it but the reviews have put me off. I've got a friend that saw it and liked it, of course there are only two movies in the history of movies that I've ever heard him be critical of: Catwoman and Star Trek Nemesis.
7/3/2010 4:42:09 PM
My fellow movie theater employees have been giving negative reviews, and they fucking like everything. Like Grown Ups. and Terminator 4.
7/3/2010 5:01:20 PM
Ebert gave it 1/2 star. Ow.
7/3/2010 7:25:41 PM
My best friend has watched the entire animated series and loved every minute of it, and he's trying to get me started on it as well. He just sent me a message warning me to stay away from this movie. I thought he was joking, but he's quite serious.
7/3/2010 9:04:29 PM
i just finished the first season of the animated series. i have not, however, seen the movie. that being said, here is an excerpt from time's "10 questions" with m. night shyamalan:What's the most difficult experience you've ever encountered on a shoot?Airbender was my longest movie. Three-quarters through the shoot, I lost my grasp on everything. I came on the set and there were 600 extras battling, and i just got exhausted. I felt like I'd lost control of the movie. And that was a scary moment.
7/4/2010 7:51:06 PM
lol @ movie critic
7/5/2010 12:05:37 AM
I can't believe this movie is somehow being received worse than The Happening. What a fucking train wreck.
7/5/2010 12:11:41 AM
$150 million beat from him? The movie is doing fairly well financially. That critic does not understand the movie business. ~$40 million in a weekend is no slouch, it will make back the budget in no time. And The Happening is hilarious and Wahlberg's is a performance for the ages.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Rq-7zEVuwI
7/5/2010 2:07:15 AM
I forgot about the happening.that was a fucking piece of shit. Interesting premise, horrible execution.
7/5/2010 2:10:32 AM
I'm pretty sure M. Night was legitimately setting out to make a B-Horror film in The Happening.and he made a super funny movie. The Happening, Unbreakable, and The Sixth Sense are successes, and Signs I guess. I don't remember Signs much.and The Village is slightly over-hated, but still not good.
7/5/2010 2:17:11 AM
I saw it, it wasn't great but a lot of that stemmed from the fact that i had just finished book one of the anime like 2 days priori feel like instead of a live action it would have been better if they had continued the story after book 3 with an animated moviethey could chronicle aang rebuilding of the 3 remaining nations and zuko's search for his mother in the opening act then a well timed and executed attack plan on the fire nation capital by a group still loyal to fire lord osai or maybe a strike against the members of the order of the white lotus, hell if they did it right they could have set themselves up for another series or at least a franchise of movies. My major problem with what they did do is that they made book one into one movie, doing so they left out so much of the character development that it was hard to really understand the motivations of the characters so that when you get to the part where iroh turns against general zhao it seems so out of the blue
7/7/2010 5:11:04 PM
^ Nick is saving that stuff for themselveshttp://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Avatar:_Legend_of_Korra
7/7/2010 5:50:45 PM
i hate they what they did with iroh. he is suppose to be laid back and funny and the movie doesnt show any of that.
