Old thread was dead...series started last week on SyFyShit is terrible.
1/31/2010 5:20:22 AM
I could never tell why the hell they were making it from the previews. There wasnt anything that made we want to see it.
1/31/2010 8:53:41 AM
it's not THAT bad. the teen shit is getting old but i am genuinely interested in the development of the cylon technology.
1/31/2010 12:44:24 PM
^Pretty much. At the end of the second episode, i wanted to see more. so consider that a plusI reiterate my HATE for children in tv shows or movies. It's fucking annoying. On top of that, the main characters are crybaby female teens. Watching child characters on screen makes me want to blow my brains out. Writers have got to figure out a way to have child characters who experience an emotion other than pure fucking angst. These characters are a long way from tigh, adama, roslyn, kara.Long story short: they keep pushing the angst, and the cylon story will not be able to make up for it.
1/31/2010 2:59:57 PM
i like it so farconsidering the fact that the pilot was on demand for about 3 weeks before the TV premier it was nice to get a fresh episode.
1/31/2010 7:45:39 PM
I have Caprica running on the DVR and just sat down to watch the pilot and holy shit Trixie cleans up nice!
2/1/2010 9:41:36 AM
It exceeds my expectations for a Sy-Fy original series, so that makes it worth watching. If more focus was removed from the pre-teen side of the story, then I would enjoy it more. This series is basically a cyberpunk version of Dune.
2/2/2010 1:15:47 AM
so the word "cyberpunk" has some sort of meaning to you
2/2/2010 2:27:27 AM
2/2/2010 3:04:35 AM
i can see where you're coming from a bit with the cyberpunk, especially with the taurons. even still though, this isn't cyberpunk.[Edited on February 2, 2010 at 9:51 AM. Reason : ]
2/2/2010 9:49:54 AM
This show is shit, and a complete waste of my dvr spaceI think I might stop watching
2/27/2010 5:26:55 PM
^^^The qualifier "like" should have sufficed, but it actually is close to the heart of the genre. ^^You obviously have no idea why the cyberpunk genre is if you think the least technologically impacted and most culturally-steeped of the races epitomizes the concept.
2/28/2010 1:02:22 AM
Anyone still watching this? I tried to get back into it, but fuck...it's terrible.
10/15/2010 6:10:11 AM
I saw the first episode and never really thought about it again.
10/15/2010 7:01:00 AM
yeah this second part of the season has just been horrible. too much of the god/heaven shit. I want to see cylons in action damnit.
10/15/2010 10:16:08 AM
This show is a complete FAIL. That sucks too because I was really hoping it would be great. The whole focus on monotheist terror cells and internal family relationships is not what I wanted to see. This show is a waste of what could have been a nice scifi series.
10/15/2010 10:40:59 AM
and i couldn't care less about the characters.
10/15/2010 10:42:30 AM
10/15/2010 11:32:00 AM
^,^^,^^^,^^^^,^^^^^^ Completely agreed. I really want to like this show, but it's just not about anything interesting at the moment. Religious cult infighting and failed suicide bombers and depressed housewives? Yeah, that's not a show I care about watching.]
10/17/2010 7:28:28 PM
Dare I say tonight's episode was somewhat decent?
10/20/2010 12:00:23 AM
and i fucking forgot to record it
10/20/2010 9:03:27 AM
^^ say whatttt? maybe I will watch it after all.
10/20/2010 10:48:02 AM
parts of it were good in the beginning, now it's a bunch of drama that I don't really care about
10/20/2010 11:24:43 AM
Not saying I was blown away or anything, but the fact that it had good parts definitely elevated it above the usual drivel
10/20/2010 11:33:26 AM
canceled...finallyhttp://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/10/27/breaking-syfy-cancels-caprica/

Adama vs the cylons was what they should have done instead of caprica in the first place.
10/27/2010 9:49:32 PM
They took way too long to build to something. First episode of BSG was probably the best in the show. This one was indulgent.
10/27/2010 10:01:18 PM
honestly i liked the taurons and the interaction between the adamas and daniel greystone. I liked last nights ep pretty good. The religious stuff and the new cap city stuff are just awful and horribly boring. I like Poly Walker, but god damn i was not caring and not caring hard whenever her part of the plot came up. Theres plenty of acting talent, but some of the writing just completely weighs everything down.
10/27/2010 10:05:25 PM
Watching someone practice their religion is NEVER entertaining. This should be a rule writers and directors follow. This dragged down BSG, too. In fact, in terms of viewer interest, the downward slide at the end of BSG probably carried over to Caprica.
10/27/2010 11:18:51 PM
yeap. BSG season 3 was complete shit because of the same stuff. S4 was forgettable with a crap ending.
10/27/2010 11:30:15 PM
and.....CANCELED.
10/28/2010 11:27:33 AM
^ thank you for this ground breaking piece of information
10/28/2010 11:29:17 AM
This show was an abortion from the beginning and the writers should apologize to the fans of BSG like the Heros writers. The idea of a show following the rise of the Cylons had potential. The rest was a complete and utter FAIL.
10/28/2010 12:55:56 PM
Here's something else people shouldn't overlook when wondering why Caprica didn't catch on: It had no hot female characters.Sci fi fans have terrible tastes -- they will watch shit as long as there are some tits and ass in it. This describes about 95% of the content on the sci fi channel. Caprica failed because it couldn't provide any T&A during the really boring, self-indulgent episodes. In contrast, BSG season 3 was filled with these kinds of episodes, but they had hot ass Tricia Helfer and Grace Park to hold down the fort.I can't believe writers and directors have to be reminded of this lesson.
11/3/2010 12:57:54 AM
so Samantha Carter was the "hot appeal" for SG-1?
11/3/2010 11:38:57 AM
Nope, it was MacGyver.
11/3/2010 1:44:50 PM
I wouldn't say T&A is all what makes a good sci-fi flick a success, but it doesn't hurt it either. I would admit I watched SG-1 for MacGyver and not for Carter, she was a bonus. Gotta love his remarks in every episode, later seasons kinda was ok after he left. His bigger role in SGU in season 2 is much loved, but damn he got fat. Guess he has to put on the pounds for his general role. Doesn't mean I love SGU, still think it's a silly off branch and them trying to break out of the SG mold, which I hoped they wouldn't do. Still I watch. Also, I have to reverberate that the "emo drama queen teen shit" got old after first episode. Annoying to watch teens and taking them seriously. This isn't dawson's creek. SCI-FI means epic space battles and techno babble that makes your nerd ears go, wtf did he say?
11/3/2010 2:00:50 PM
You guys are forgetting that SG1 had a hot guest alien every week. And before you argue a straw man, T&A saves bad shows not make good shows. Also, SG1 had a larger than normal female audience because of Daniel Jackson.1. Religion2. Teens3. No T&A4. No action
11/3/2010 8:48:56 PM
no T&A is such a small percentage of the failure of that show. like 3%. there is so much else wrong with it.
11/3/2010 9:18:00 PM
yep. like being completely uninteresting
11/3/2010 10:21:09 PM
yeah, I'd put no action above T&A and would put completely uninteresting as #1.
11/4/2010 1:18:36 AM
Did anybody bother to watch the last 5 unaired (in the US at least) episodes? I just got finished watching the last 2 and I gotta say it was starting to get interesting. It's too bad that they didn't focus more on the cylons throughout the series because they did that in the last couple and it was definitely worth watching. Kind of a weird twist they did with William Adama for, best I can tell, no real reason, and the ending leaves you wanting a little bit more, but all in all, if you managed to watch the first 13 episodes, you should stick it out through the last 5. It wasn't superb, but the series ended on a high note for sure.]
12/27/2010 9:02:01 PM
i might have to check them out. i totally forgot they even made the rest of the season.
12/27/2010 10:11:14 PM
This is the show that Swamp Loggers killed.
12/28/2010 2:39:58 AM
bwahahahahahaThis is the show that self-indulgent award-fishing killed.
12/28/2010 2:57:52 AM
Aren't they going to air the final 5 episodes later in the spring? I left it on the DVR list for when they came on. Don't care enough to actually Netflix the disc.
12/28/2010 7:44:30 AM
^^^^^ The show wouldn't be cancelled if they had just made all the episodes like the last 3 or so. It's a shame. The Bill Adama thing is the only way it could make sense -- the kid who died was too much into the mafia shit. The new one will obviously be more goody goody like the BSG version and shielded from the mafia stuff. They should have threatened to cancel the series from the start if that's what it took to make them actually pump out good episodes. This is why I am in favor of signing shows with a fixed series length -- we won't get writers and directors trying to ration the good stuff because they don't know how long the series will last.
