again, really hope Dwyer is wearing the bolts come training camp. he's got the power to hit the line and break tackles and has moves to get to the edge and bust long runs. good replacement back at the end of the 1st round
1/31/2010 5:33:08 PM
maybe they should go for a kicker that doesn't choke
1/31/2010 6:54:28 PM
Said kicker also won them a game against the bengals a month ago. a nice what, 49 yarder?

^ they have their time and place.
2/26/2010 11:52:15 PM
just ad block the nudesi'm indifferent about sproles. it's not like LT was bringing down his awesome average. 3.7 YPC...not worth the 7.3 mil it was gonna cost them to deal with him pre-FA. sproles had kick returns and a couple good games, that's it.[Edited on February 27, 2010 at 1:04 AM. they can pick up a good back or 2, they need some more o-line work and another stud receiver and they should be in a ok situation...
3/1/2010 11:28:35 AM
Another stud receiver??? I think QB and WR are the two areas they need absolutely zero help in. Gates, Jackson, Floyd, and Naanee make one of the top 5 receiving groups in the league (Manumaleuna is another solid TE as well). They need another RB, OL help, depth at DT, and just fill in depth issue in the rest of the defense. Sounds like a lot...but finding a serviceable RB should be pretty easy...OL and DT are the main concerns.
3/1/2010 12:05:24 PM
fuck it you dot need good backs when you pass for 500 yards a game and score 35 points a game.just some sub par shit for goal line or red zone shit isall you need
3/1/2010 2:36:43 PM
3/1/2010 2:40:05 PM
CJ Spiller would be a fine addition, highly doubt that he lasts that long though.
3/1/2010 4:05:33 PM
Spiller won't last that long I would rather see a bigger back anyway the chargers have been missing that for a LONG time (Dwyer from GT comes to mind).
3/2/2010 12:22:57 AM
Chargers are retaining Sproles for another year, but they had to cut Jamal Williams in order to afford him. The Panthers might want to look at J-Wall, who could be a great run-stopping DT but can't take the abuse at NT anymore.Chargers main focus in the draft ought to be NT, RB, CB, DE. They could use a steamrolling RT or C as well, but they may stick with Clary and Hardwick, respectively.I'd be happy if they ended up with Terrence Cody or Ryan Mathews. If they somehow land both, I'll be ecstatic.
3/4/2010 8:47:53 PM
Holy Hell the great wall of Jamal and Kemo would be some beef up front for the PanthersIt doesn't seem like a wise move to cut a NT to retain a scat back. I'm wondering what their rationale for that was...
3/4/2010 9:42:48 PM
Jamal is 34 and has taken 12 years of abuse. He has a history of knee problems. Plus they went 13-3 without him last year.Sproles is in his prime and they have no other halfbacks on the roster. I think they made the right call.
3/4/2010 9:59:58 PM
Yeah...Williams' best years are definitely behind him. It's possible he could have come back and made a big impact next year...but I think the financial risk would be too big.But they definitely need to bring in something at NT. They were down to some scrubs by the end of the year.
3/4/2010 10:14:41 PM
I didn't realize Williams was that old.Still, they claimed they were going to let him walk as a UFA last week, then they turn around and put a 1st and 3rd tender on him in 6 days later and cut guys to make it happen. It just seems a little strange. Maybe the owner stepped in or something, but AJ has an ego so seeing him backtrack like this is a rarity.
3/4/2010 10:46:14 PM
The Chargers traded Cromartie to the Jets for a 2011 3rd round pick.
3/4/2010 11:03:02 PM
I can't wait for that first and third round rb pick.
3/4/2010 11:15:19 PM
Wait, what? Why would they use a first and a third on a RB when they are keeping Sproles?[Edited on March 4, 2010 at 11:26 PM. Reason : .]
3/4/2010 11:23:28 PM
I can see someone using their 1st and third for VJCromartie for a 3rd round isn't so bad, but it being a 2011 pick kind of sucks.I've heard on ESPN that it could be a 2nd round pick, probably conditional on playing time next year.[Edited on March 4, 2010 at 11:35 PM. Reason : ]
3/4/2010 11:27:08 PM
Oh shit Jamal Williams released too
3/5/2010 12:16:36 AM
Not sure I agree with all of the moves SD is making. Cutting LT - okay that one was easy and needed to be done. Tendering Sproles and basically giving him $7+ million?? I just do not see how he is worth that amount. Maybe they'll still be able to trade him. Trading Cromartie for a 3rd rd pick (possibly 2nd round). I guess they think they'll get someone better through the draft?? Cutting Jamal Williams - guess it had to be done, but who is going to take his place. I sure hope SD has an amazing draft, but this team is not going to be as good next year IMO.
3/5/2010 10:53:09 AM
^Sproles was the only person who gave them a decent amount of value last year...and even he didn't have as much impact as the year before. Jamal Williams is old as shit and coming off injuries...LT was washed up before the beginning of last year...and Cromartie was continuously picked on and burned last year...not worth the money he would be asking for. With Sproles, they might get something for him in a trade, or they'll pick up another every down back and be able to use Sproles more in the way he is supposed to be used: a 3rd down back, a receiver out of the backfield, and a return specialist. Because LT sucked so much last year, Sproles was used too much as an every down back. Hopefully he'll be back to his 2008 form this year....if they keep him. This is a deep draft. They'll be able to fill plenty of holes and won't need to do too much in free-agency...but they still need to make some moves.
3/5/2010 10:57:35 AM
WTFtrading cromartie, cutting J-wall, letting vincent jackson go....
3/5/2010 10:58:55 AM
Where does it say Jackson has been let go??
3/5/2010 11:01:33 AM

Manumaleuna signed with da Bears.
3/5/2010 11:45:27 AM
Why the hell would they use a first and third on sproles? Why not just a first? Nobody would give up a first round pick for sproles, and it would cost less.Hell they probably could have gotten away with a second round tender.
