Some sophmore n00bs who currently have classes in EBI and EBII had no clue what i was talking about when i talked about them building EBIII. I remember as i was graduating that they were hauling ass and even had a skeleton structure up for what i heard would be EBIII. I am not talking about the biotechnology building. This was being constructed behind EBI, next to EBII.

What happened to it? they claim its just a concrete slab. Did they tear it down or something?

It’s up now (walls, doors, windows, electricity, data, etc.), and set to open next fall.

I don’t see how they could have missed it though, because it’s the massive “other” building right near EB1 and EB2.

if so, i'll be graduating a semester too early to get to use it. would've been nice to get to use those nice facilities, but it would've sucked to have to go to centennial.

And you have have preferred centennial to main campus, once you started taking classes there. The ChemE girls aren’t too bad, everything is nice and new, and close together, and on the first floor for the most part.

All they need on that side of campus is a dining hall.

none of those come close to making up for how much of a pain it is to get over there. i had to ride a bus to main campus, then get off and ride another bus over there when i had my circuits class.

i'd kind of like to see what centennial looks like nowadays. i spent about half my time in EB1 my last two semesters because i was getting a minor in material science...but i'm just as glad i graduated before they moved MAE over there.

it's going to be a royal pain for engineering students to take any sort of non-engineering classes (PE, humanities, etc). the time required to get to and from main campus will make scheduling those courses a nightmare.

Yeah you'd have to be a tard to not be able to schedule your classes to take distance between buildings into consideration. It's not even a far walk from Centennial to North Campus.

4 years ago, at least, the class times on main versus centennial campus did not seem to have an offset to allow travel time. maybe that's changed, but i doubt it.

no, it's not a bad walk between the two...but it generally took me about 15 minutes (give or take) to walk from EB1 to talley. i could certainly see it being a problem, if the only section of a class on main campus was sandwiched between classes on centennial. but whatever.

In AE, almost every class for juniors and seniors is only offered one section per year. Small college, you know...

true, they had crowding issues for the better part of a semester. But still, I had classes on main that were only separated by 15 minutes from my centennial ones and I managed. Usually got there on time too.

I would hope they have more buses, because the schedule they had sucked while I was there. My Junior year I biked to class unless it was raining really bad, and broke down for a parking pass my last year.

From the NCSU archives, circa 1997, there was a plan for a monorail to link Centennial and Main campus.

"Campus development is on the fast track. NC State’s 1,000-acre, high-tech Centennial Campus -- which houses state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and government and industry partners -- is one of the fastest growing campuses of its kind in the nation.

Since 1989, eight new buildings, valued at $127 million, have been built, and five more, valued at about $55 million, are under construction. A $41 million, state-of-the-art conference center and hotel is slated to open by 1999, and plans are also under way for additional office buildings, classrooms, laboratories, residential neighborhoods, a magnet middle school and a monorail link to the main campus."

^ The planned path for the monorail can still be seen even on today's updated master plan maps via the facilities website at NCSU. It's just a pipe dream though that they're kind of just keeping alive for a projected future. I wouldn't count on seeing a monorail at all for at least 20 years, if at all.

As a side note I think it's kind of retarded that they are planning EBIV to exist off the Oval. I mean I get why it can't go right next to EBIII, but you'd think they could some how do something cool like bridge the building over that water in the southeast corner of the Oval. Like half-n-half it. Meh, whatever.
