Just got my title from the bank. Now what? Do I need to go to DMV and get them to do something?

It has your name on it as the owner, correct? Put it in a safe place.

Actually, I just double checked... still has the Bank's name on it as the lien holder... i'm thinking i need to go to DMV... crap! I hate the freakin' DMV line... Worst than Walmart lines. Worst than Theme park lines.

wat?

you dont HAVE to do anything. you need a lien release form from the bank that will go with the title when you sell the vehicle

there is 0 reason to get a new title issued with the banks name removed unless you just really want to. you can't get one issued (or sell the car) without a lien release from the bank though

so yea, don't even bother going to the DMV until you have that.

but there's no reason to go to the dmv anyways. so yeah, chill out, put the damn thing somewhere safe and be done with it.

or is this for a vehicle you just purchased? i was assuming it was one you just got done paying off..

Someone at the bank should have signed the title next to the lien holder as a notification the lean has been released. If not, you need this.

Yeah, it's signed. Just didn't know if I had to go to DMV and remove the bank name.

Nope. FYI, if it is not signed and you hold the title, it is a repo sale, and you have to provide a different document saying that the bank did actually sell the car with the lien not satisfied.
