My PC was working just fine all day until I went to move it into my room when I set my desk up. After I hooked everything back up and pushed the power button it powered up but nothing showed up on the monitor. I checked the cable connection a billion times to both the pc and monitor even though I only removed the cable from the back of the pc to move it. The light on my monitor just keeps flashing whenever the cable it attached to the pc but shines constantly when I remove the cable and it gives me the "Check Video Cable" message when I unplug it. It sounds like the video card is somehow shot but I wanted to ask here first. I've removed the card and put it back in several times just to make sure it didn't get jossled out of position or anything. This sucks.

This might sound silly, but if you have a button on the monitor to switch inputs (analog to digital), try pressing that. I somehow hit it on mine last week without realizing it... after reseating components, cables, etc I realized what I had done... talk about a doh moment.

So I took the computer to work and the problem came back. This time I had another video card to swap out to see if that was the issue but even after putting in a brand new card I still got a blank screen. So, should I be thinking motherboard? I read something about trying a Live Boot Linux OS. Thoughts?

At this point it's likely a bad graphics port on your motherboard.

The confusing part is that it only started acting up when the computer was moved. I've taken out and replaced the video card multiple times and even put it in the second PCIe slot. I don't mind buying another motherboard (even though that would suck) but I want to be 100% certain before tossing out $100. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

it's not that unrealistic that moving the computer loosened or shorted a component

could be it was ready to go anyway, and movement was all it needed to die

So I got a tip that it could be the RAM and to switch out sticks one and four. After doing this it booted up just fine and dandy. BIOS still reads all 4gigs as well. Very strange. Suffice to say, I am happy that it is working without having to pay somewhere to diagnose it and then pay more for a new card or motherboard.

Grab this and run one of the memory tests. I just had two sticks of Ballistix ram go bad and I had been running them for months. Occasional bluescreen but I thought it was a fucked Win7 install. Didn't realize anything was wrong until I tried installing a fresh copy the other day and kept getting I/O errors in setup.
