*Not sure if this is the best category for this topic. I wanted to get a Lowe's kitchen remodel done by the Cary store. It would be a gut and replace new cabinets and counters. Anyone had this done by that Lowe's? Have you had good experience? Thanks!

I don't think you should be able to change your kitchen counters once you buy a home. That puts a lot of strain on construction people who built your house, and their labour was in vain. There's just no reason to do that

Make sure the fucking GOP stays out of the plan. All you'll get is a resounding "NO" to everything. You'll be accused of trying to give entitlements to the guests, like an automatic ice dispenser on the fridge. Their attitude is that they should be responsible for bringing their own ice. But not everyone can afford ice, or even make it. And to top it off, I'll bet you that in their OWN kitchens, they have ice dispensers and makers. They'll preach to you about being protecting your rights. But if you miss the print in their contract for the remodeling, they're allowed to put wire taps in your kitchen's phone line to make sure that you're not leaking intelligence to Home Depot. And don't worry, they'll preach to you about fiscal responsibility too. They'll get the labor from Mexicans while telling you that you need for support America. Meanwhile, any illegal immigrant that comes into your kitchen, won't be allowed to a hot meal. Oh, and they'll force your TV to watch Fox News 24/7.

This is a great idea as far as job creation, I just worry that a good portion, if not all of those jobs will go to undocumented workers who entered this country illegally.

You should definitely consider looking for homes that are having its contents auctioned off before it's demolished. Or find a place that provides materials from environmentally sustainable sources. [/soap box]
