just as criminal as license checkpoints and the like. at least there's the slim chance you might catch a REAL criminal at a license/dui check. are they screening for that at these? or is it strictly run by dmv?

um dude I think there are CARB nazis running them, they are way more powerful than DMV asshatsoriginal thread: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=188570[Edited on January 4, 2010 at 8:37 PM. Reason : source]

man fuck that shit. this is the bad thing about not having window stickers.
1/4/2010 8:46:33 PM
as my old boss used to say "California: the land of fruits and nuts" this is such a waste of resources.
1/4/2010 8:53:31 PM
it really almost seems like they are nickle and dimming people out there.
1/4/2010 8:55:51 PM
That state is billions in debt and this is what they waste their money on. They have billions upon billions in oil and natural gas just sitting there but won't use it. It's beyond me why the federal gov't has bailed them out, again and again.FUCK THEMThat state's going right down the shitter. Not a chance I'll ever voluntarily move to that liberal paradise.[Edited on January 4, 2010 at 9:47 PM. Reason : k]

Looks like a lot of fun .... I'd voluntarily do it if they dynoed my car for free general lee > herbie
1/5/2010 3:27:24 AM
lol, that's how they lure all the ricers in... "free dyno!!!11"
1/5/2010 7:45:49 AM
Im sorry but that was funny
1/5/2010 7:48:53 AM
^^^^^then maybe you should stop using anything that requires oil, since you believe it's "raping the earth".
1/5/2010 8:20:35 AM
Seems like a waste of time to me.Imagine how bad that would suck if you were late for a meeting at work or something and you got stuck there. From reading the other thread it looks like it is "optional" to have your car tested. If that's the case you'd never see them testing my car.[Edited on January 5, 2010 at 10:26 AM. Reason : s]

why wait, you should take the bus to work. or if its close by then take your bike. hypocrite.
1/5/2010 10:50:34 AM
those both use oil and took oil to manufacture
1/5/2010 11:23:27 AM
mmmmm EARTH RAPE mmmmmmmi do think that mass transit (maintained well (clean, and reliable)) beats commuting....
1/5/2010 11:26:39 AM
^^well yes, but overall its reduced consumption over driving a car. And if that stuff is so so so horrible and evil he should do his best not to use it, right?
1/5/2010 1:09:28 PM
California is naturally a pretty nice place so I can understand the concern. Saudi Arabia was earth raped by mother earth herself long before people knew there was any oil there. I say we might as well finish the deal if there is any ecological damage to be done.[Edited on January 5, 2010 at 1:37 PM. Reason : l]

Well, California still has some of the worst smog problems. Because of the mountains around LA, the emissions can get trapped there and its an absolute nightmare, like Mexico City. They have had considerable problems with pollution since the 1940s.
1/5/2010 4:31:23 PM
never heard of this happening before, but i've only been back in california for 5 years...don't go thinking that these shenanigans are going on at every corner. and it's not like stupid shit doesn't happen in NC too...
1/5/2010 4:33:48 PM
California is awesome./thread
1/5/2010 4:43:18 PM
If the environmentalists didn't organize protests every time a new roadway is proposed there's a good chance they wouldn't have as much traffic, as well as smog.
1/5/2010 8:14:13 PM
The environment is a serious issue, at least they're more conscious about it than most.
1/6/2010 12:43:15 AM
lets think about the resources expended to put on a circus like this. are they offsetting that by the "offenders" they catch? i doubt it.
1/6/2010 12:50:24 AM
I really wish I would have run into one of these while I was driving through cali in my car last june.It wouldn't even come close to passing, and probably breaks about 30 CA car restrictions, and I would just wave as I drove through.

I like visiting california.I would never live there.
1/6/2010 8:59:16 AM
I would never live there because of how expensive it is to live there but I do love visiting there as well.
1/6/2010 9:02:38 AM
there's being environmentally conscious and there's just plain stupidity. a clean environment is important, especially clean air. improperly tuned and polluting cars should be taken off the road and/or fixed. it's beyond me that NC doesn't even test pre 1996 vehicles for emissions anymore. but given that state's financial woes (brought on by expensive energy restrictions and entitlement programs) its no mystery why businesses and people are leaving the state.
1/6/2010 11:01:04 AM
those assholes can't even make payroll, much less do silly shit like that. high taxes and stupid regulations are why there has been a huge flight of businesses and the jobs that go with them out of California.
