Thinking about buying this watch. Any tells to indicate that it is real or a replica? http://charlotte.craigslist.org/jwl/1520021389.htmlthanks
12/29/2009 2:29:48 PM
is it automatic or not?
12/29/2009 2:37:10 PM
No idea - Suppose I should ask the seller that question.
12/29/2009 2:38:55 PM
You need to hold the watch in your hands to be able to tell, cell phone pics wont help. One of the main things to look for is pins in the band. If you can see pins holding the band to the watch, or the links together, then its a fake. The only visible pin in a real TAG band is where you adjust the size of the band. I've only bought 2, but each time I've called TAG and they've had no problem verifying the serial number for me.
12/29/2009 2:43:49 PM
^ thanks - good info. I will definitely give Tag a call to verify the serial #. That seams like the easiest and most surefire way to determine the authenticity.

hes also got a posting saying hes from greenville, id be waryhttp://raleigh.craigslist.org/jwl/1521244709.html
12/29/2009 2:55:44 PM
^^^i totally just picked up my watch and checked for that(lol my tag came from a jewelry store and i know its real, but i was curious )
12/29/2009 3:20:43 PM
Its only a matter of time before the chinese fake guys find an easy way to do the pin-less band also, so the best way is just to call. Here is the number from my exchange with them:800-321-4832
12/29/2009 4:01:48 PM
I called that 1800 number earlier and they said I would have to bring the watch in for maintenance - they would not verify serial numbers over the phone. I'm going to ask the seller to meet me at a jewelers and handle it that way.

I'm debating buying a Tag Formula 1 with credit card points while amex has it on sale.Thoughts?
12/29/2009 5:00:41 PM
Which one?

Whoops.Grande Date
12/29/2009 5:27:15 PM
Eh, I just looked that one up, not one of my favorites, seems pretty plain for that style watch.
12/29/2009 6:31:39 PM
i like itbut im not one for ornate watches on guys
12/29/2009 6:56:13 PM
Pfft...aren't you engaged or something? The days of doing shit to impress you are over.I don't think it's ornate at all.
12/29/2009 6:59:20 PM
don't get the Formula 1, the only Tag I would consider owning is the Carrera.
12/29/2009 7:29:20 PM
^^are you talking to me?i said i did like it.i was referring to wolfmarsh saying that it was "plain".i was saying that i didnt like ornate things.i'm confused.[Edited on December 29, 2009 at 8:21 PM. Reason : dfgd]

Im a big dude, so watches with bigger bodies look much better on me.
12/29/2009 8:35:44 PM
fair enough
12/29/2009 8:44:33 PM
i have a tag heuer automatic chronograph aquaracer and i love it. it is a huge watch, but looks normal on me...i'm 6'5" and 260 lbs...
12/29/2009 10:19:16 PM
Watches bigger than 42mm or so just seem really overstated to me.I'm 6'4" and 205 pounds. My biggest is a Omega Planet Ocean and at 45.5mm it feels like a brick.
12/29/2009 11:31:41 PM
G.O.D would be able to tell you possibly
12/30/2009 12:45:49 AM
QTPie is a watch queen.I'm a diamond and jewelry queen, esp antique stuff.also, I might be getting a TAG, I know I shouldn't but I am getting it at a great price. just to say I own one. how stupid, but still I am excited. I LOVE my Raymond Weil and it has treated me well for years, so it kinda feels like cheating on it. ...but someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse!!!
12/30/2009 1:30:05 PM
lol @ people on here talking about getting a TAG as a status symbol. It's not even one of the higher end brands.
12/30/2009 1:36:11 PM
I know, but I like to spend my $$$ on diamonds not watches. It still is a status symbol because you are paying more for the name than the watch. My next watch was supposed to be a platinum Harry Winston, but I guess I will sneak this TAG in there until then.

just bc I'm lazy and dont want to make a thread in the classifieds and im not really in a big hurry to sell itI have a Tag for sale http://www.amazon.com/TAG-Heuer-Tiger-Professional-WAE1113-FT6004/dp/B0017UGRM2it's one of the tiger woods tags....Ive got the box and all paperwork even a receipt from jared dated jan. 08 were i payed 1300 for it,....Im looking to get $500 for it/cheap salesman off[Edited on December 30, 2009 at 4:58 PM. Thanks for the help. Ended up getting a brand new Aquaracer for $550. Met the guy at a jewelry store and had them authenticate before I purchased. Tempted to flip it and make a few hundred dollars.
12/30/2009 6:47:10 PM
What makes a TAG a "premium" watch? Unlike a Rolex or Breitling (sp?) that has gold/stones, its made of stainless steal and looks like an ESQ or Citizen
12/30/2009 8:23:19 PM
i've never seen one that i found attractive
12/31/2009 12:06:20 AM
The new Citizen Signature watches are actually pretty nice.
12/31/2009 2:17:57 PM
Yeah, but its a Citizen.
12/31/2009 2:34:28 PM
So what, if you like a watch, get it, regardless of the manufacturer. One of my daily watches is a Guess watch, because I don't feel horrible if I accidentally hit it on a wall or something.http://www.amazon.com/Guess-Watches-Collection-Bracelet-46001G1/dp/B000Y9NOYQI have no idea why amazon is showing it at that price, this is a $100 watch, not a $500 one.
12/31/2009 3:51:04 PM
I want a Pierre DeRoche really badly...http://www.pierrederoche.com/en/collections/splitrock.html
12/31/2009 4:01:46 PM
yeahh i've never understood people spending thousands on watches. i mean, maybe if you were a millionaire or something where it really doesn't matter
12/31/2009 4:10:51 PM
I have a tag and I wear that thing doing everything and it does not have one scratch on the crystal...that and the fact that it looks nice is more than enough for me. I have had enough cheap watches that get easily scratched.
12/31/2009 5:13:23 PM
Wierd. I used to wear one of my TAGs every day, and had to send it back twice to be "reconditioned" with a new crystal and case because I kept fuckin them up.
12/31/2009 6:21:18 PM
And nice CarZin, that light grey splitrock is the hotness.
12/31/2009 6:22:24 PM
^^^im in your boat. i've had mine for about 3-4 years now and it still looks awesome. it wouldnt hurt to get it cleaned though. [Edited on January 1, 2010 at 4:47 PM. Reason : and ive put that thing through hell ]

^ I guess that is why I like it then
1/1/2010 5:25:10 PM
I've had mine since I was 16. My aunt gave me a fake tag for my birthday. When I found out it was fake, I saved my money and bought a real one. Ten years later I still have it, and wear it all the time. Sapphire crystal glass still has no scratches. It was the first major thing I ever purchased with my own money.Feels good man.
1/1/2010 9:15:39 PM
how much money is something like this?
1/1/2010 9:41:03 PM
^^damn, what kind of aunt giving fake stuff to their nephews? ^an average TAG will run you about $500[Edited on January 1, 2010 at 9:43 PM. Reason : .]

^^exactly.If I could wear a watch at work, I'd get a nice midrange Tag[Edited on January 1, 2010 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .]
1/1/2010 9:52:52 PM
^^maybe you overpaid for yours. If you go on watch forums, a quartz TAG generally costs around $500, and that's male watches. Women watches are generally cheaper. There are exception like the Carrera, but those are automatic and chronographs.[Edited on January 1, 2010 at 9:55 PM. Reason : .]
1/1/2010 9:54:04 PM
Yeah seriously, I mean most i have seen are around $1500 avg.
^people paying retail prices for watch are retarded.
