Most games are a rip-off of another game, but as long as they do a good job of ripping it off I have no problem with it.

Bttt just say this game has got one rating all ready and its a 9.0. That's not to say its gonna be a good game for sure but def doesn't reflect bad on game.

Just saw a commercial for it on TV and it looks pretty terrible.Generic-looking story and setting, the gameplay looked incredibly unpolished, and it seemed like they were trying to make a game that simultaneously rips off a handful of major shooters to come out in the past few years (for example, Dead Space, Fallout 3/anything with a post-apocalyptic setting, Gears of War, that shitty new Wolfenstein game...).Hell, maybe it'll end up being good, but I for one won't be buying it unless I get a LOT of good recommendations.[Edited on March 14, 2010 at 12:50 AM. This is a great review and I recommend reading it if you have any interest int he game, and they gave the game 9/10, which is the second score it has received thus far and both scores give 90%.http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/metro-2033/review/metro-2033/a-2010031217121699584961/g-20081219161519817058

I rented it today and it feels pretty decent so far after about 2 hours. I am playing it on Hardcore difficulty and its probably how most people with FPS experience should play it. I def recommend renting and playing it on Hardcore.

I just finished the game on Hardcore (if that really matters), but what I think about the game is that the environments for each chapter are quite varied for this to be an extremely linear game. The weapons and gadgets, while not super powerful against foes, were very creative. The Metros were people existed were very alive, and the micro-government that each had gave a sense of humanity in such a crisis-stricken world. As you would have guess, the story, and atmosphere is what really makes this game. It was paced quite well. Even though you only encounter a handful of different foes it doesn't feel repetitive at all, enemy placement and strength I think was good (they could have made this harder). You should get a solid 12 hours out of this if you are not trying to run right through it. Unless you are an achievement hunter, this game pretty much has no replayability, although it was patched to support DLC - probably will unlock more of the Metro tunnels an add on to the story. I'd give 8/10. With just a little more this game could be a great game. Things like being open-world even just a little, crafting, some RPG-like elements like upgrading your weapons and repairing them (you can KINDA upgrade but not really), although I could definitely see this game as an RPG. I am returning this game tomorrow so rent it! Its a great 9 buck treat for the weekend.

why isn't PC included in this thread? The game was launched originally for PC and uses PhysX and DX11, the console version are just dumbed down.

I was really interested in this until the reviews started coming in. I still might check it out when it's down to $20 or so.
