on the weekends, and I led them, would you take it? Let's say, an hour long with breaks and stuff.
12/14/2009 3:16:40 PM
texa$?
12/14/2009 3:22:38 PM
if it was priced competitive with the downtown one.
12/14/2009 3:34:06 PM
Why would you even need breaks? You're riding on a goddamn Segway.
12/14/2009 3:43:43 PM
I would!
12/14/2009 3:45:13 PM
I think that would be cool
12/14/2009 3:46:37 PM
Hell, Id pay $10 just to ride around on a segway for an hour; just dont get mad when Im not listening to your speech . . .. . . . .
12/14/2009 3:51:25 PM
sure
12/14/2009 3:53:46 PM
"...and this folks, is Metcalf Hall, where local legend Slave Famous threw a CRT computer monitor from the 12th floor in 2005. If you look closely, you might still even be able to find glass fragments in the bushes by the train tracks."
12/14/2009 3:54:24 PM
^ hahahaha I'd go on THAT TOUR
12/14/2009 4:06:57 PM
I'll be sure to add that. Hahaha, I won't take it personally at all if you aren't listening. Most folks come on the one downtown just to ride it. The info is a perk if you want to know it. But yeah, fun segway friendly places all over the place - brickyard, sidewalks, hills and stuff. We are putting it together over the holidays and hopefully offer it after that. any input? (FYI its the same group that does the ones downtown from city market)

...can we opt to walk with you at a cheaper price?Or at least student discounts. Also, any concern from you about the Hillsborough Street Renovation's treatment of historic materials dug up during the construction process?
12/14/2009 4:29:49 PM
He's already gotten a cobblestone from the days of the Raleigh streetcar.
12/14/2009 4:32:48 PM
yeah - talked about that in the lecture--The shop does want to bring the price down with a valid student ID so students can do it affordably. And hell, I'll do walking tours for free. Pvt me about that. I want to do as many as I can before I leave after graduation. We are just trying to expand the tour repertoire outside of the city center, oakwood, and oakwood cemetery. Figured a capital city west and state college tour would fit nicely
12/14/2009 4:35:31 PM
three words.. golf cart tourcheaper than segway and no standing for the lazy
12/14/2009 4:37:30 PM
Dude, I'm close to a couple of RAs at Lee Hall, and I think they'd be interested in arranging a group to participate in a walking tour--but it would have to be next semester, of course.I say this mostly because I'd like to do it and I don't know if you can get enough people for just some random foot tour without help.
12/14/2009 4:40:59 PM
that's good. I'm game this week for later at night with flashlights if anyone's interested. Give me a date. Hey - what about friday night? its my last night as a student and I'd like to go out with a bang. Thoughts?
12/14/2009 4:47:33 PM
^yeh, RAs are a great resource to get tour groups together... they'd love having a preplanned event to use as one of their programs. it does need to be during the semester though.
12/14/2009 4:55:29 PM
I'm leaving Raleigh after this weekend for good. So, it will not be next semester.
12/14/2009 4:59:08 PM
i mean my main problem with downtown ones is the price. i did the one at the arboretum in asheville and for the price you got tons of ride time and it was AMAZING. i looked into the downtown one and for the price it did just not balance out.would there be a student discount? if so, how much $$ are we talking for the hour?
12/14/2009 6:36:13 PM
i do not know yet. we are in discussions now. what do you think would be a good price point? Considering we would do the tour on saturday/sunday and we would have to relocate the tour fleet to campus from city market via trailer every time we had this tour. One hour tour for downtown is currently $35/person.
12/14/2009 7:33:58 PM
i guess i would say if you could do a $20 student price that would seem like a good deal to me. when i lived on campus (and in neighboring areas) i would totally have done $20/hour. i would have had to do some serious thinking before i ponied up $35.
12/14/2009 7:53:45 PM
we will keep that in mind. Good deal. What else?
12/14/2009 7:57:21 PM
obviously not possible, but would it not be awesomeeee to run them up and down the ramp in harrelson??
12/14/2009 9:12:52 PM
I would not take it.
12/14/2009 9:14:33 PM
Well, the obvious problem here is that... no students will actually be ON campus Friday night. You could draw in some students who live nearby and off-campus, but many of us will not be here. Sorry.
12/14/2009 9:43:08 PM
Kramer: Understand?Jerry: Yeah. $37.50 for a Three Musketeers.
12/14/2009 10:20:33 PM
sounds like road trip
12/14/2009 10:44:10 PM
i'd pay for a tour, but not on a segway with people laughing at me.
12/14/2009 10:44:21 PM
would the tour be like the ESPN basketball tour?"This is the legendary Reynolds Colisseum, where such greats as David Thompson came to snort cocaine and shoot hoops.""and here is where Anthony Grundy beat his girlfriend and got hauled off in handcuffs."
12/14/2009 11:06:23 PM
Wait.So the Segway tour is what is historic as in "historic Segway tour"or is the tour historic as in "Segway historic tour"or what.
12/15/2009 12:41:02 AM
can you get a dui on a segue? this is the first question you need to answer
12/15/2009 1:40:30 AM
12/15/2009 10:03:27 AM
i'd be interested in a campus walking tour friday if it's sometime between 5pm and 9:30pm
12/15/2009 10:44:57 AM
This thread has made me find out that people have found more and more interesting ways to wreck a segway.[Edited on December 15, 2009 at 12:37 PM. Reason : hahah]
