i came home at lunch to find my new neighbor's van in my backyard...stuck in mudthe douchebag got his van stuck in HIS yard when he pulled off the driveway (our ground holds water like a mofo) and while i was gone thought it would be a good idea to pull forward through my back yard in order to get it unstucka couple of notes - the guy who got stuck isn't actually the new neighbor...he's the father of the new neighbor and he's helping them renovate the house...second, he DID apologize immediately and said he'd take care of fixing it...third, his daughter (my new neighbor) was horribly embarrassed and very apologetici'm playing on a stereotype here, but they're mexicans (though the americanized kind that can actually speak english fluently and coherently) and yes, i do believe it's a possibility that their idea of fixing it might not actually get rid of the ruts in my yard...regardless of race, i believe there's the possibility that they won't do it at all or will put it off indefinitelyi left them a note today when i got home (no one was there), telling the guy i was glad they were able to get the van out and to call me when he wants to set up a time to have someone come out and fix the yard so i can make sure i'm home...as part of that note, i specifically addressed to new couple that will be my neighbors and welcomed them to the neighborhoodso, my question is this: what is it that you can actually do to fix the ruts? sprinkle hay and throw down some grass seed? i very specifically don't want pits in my yard because i mow it with a push mower and i don't want my clumsy self twisting an ankle...also, i'm vain and my yard actually looks pretty decent in the summer and i don't want it to look like crap now[Edited on December 9, 2009 at 5:34 PM. You need to wait for it to dry out some, fill the ruts with good dirt, then seed again.

Sand and dirt mixture, level it out, seed it and straw over it. Seed it with rye grass now (a little late) but it will help with erosion, then in Spring just seed it with whatever you have.

MaximaDrvr is right. Definitely going to have to fill those in with good dirt. I'd throw down some winter rye grass just to hold the soil in and keep it from looking like shit all winter. You'll have to re-seed in the early spring with whatever you have in the yard. That's a pretty jackass move on their part. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.[Edited on December 9, 2009 at 6:08 PM. Reason : l]

I'm still confused as to why he drove through your yard to get unstuck. It just doesn't compute.

If your yard hold water well enough to notice, then you dont have to do a fucking thing. By spring it will be nice and level again- all on its own.ask me how I know LOL

Have him go out there with a rake or shovel and pound it back flat while it's still mud. I've fixed my ditch so many times this way.
