I need to go check but I think its at 10k on the speedo

it is the original engine, however the Fuel pump, alternator, battery, air filter, carb and drive belts have all been replaced within the past year. I did them all myself and can vouch they are in great shape.

recently just had a new paint job, same color minus the renegade logo on the hood.

not much rust, a littttttle in the floorboard on the drivers side but thats common.

obviously has side pipes...top is less than 3 years old and in GREAT shape. Radio works randomly...never could figure that one out. Gauges and panel have all been replaced on the inside with a custom made panel.

The only thing I dont like about it, which is probably a simple fix is that the radio randomly works from time to time.

Wow, you've kept that thing in good shape.

That's actually really tempting.

What engine?

It's probably got the 258 straight six in it. I think that the last year for the 304 V8 was in either '78 or '79.

The rear axle is an AMC Model 20 (not a great 'wheeling axle in its stock trim), and the front is a Dana 44.

It probably has a Dana Model 300 transfer case, though it might have a Model 20.

It's a pretty jeep, that's for sure...but it's rawhide wheeling credentials are weak.

would this be a good vehicle to have in a post-apocalyptic world?

I'd be surprised if it had side pipes with the straight six. Also, that jeep is so light, the AMC 20 is fine for wheeling. My dad had one we wheeled hard with the whole family crammed in, never had an issue.

304 V8...why you think there would be side pipes on an inline six is beyond me.

Dana Model 300 transfer case
Dana Model 30 front axle
AMC Model 20 2 piece rear axle

and yes, it got its work done in Wilson at Down East Offroad and no, the diamond plate was thrown on for looks, you can see the panels from the underside and they have little to no rust...only one spot of any rust and it was sand blasted, taken out, a new piece welded in and blended by a pro at down east.

yeah, i've never understood why Jeep has spent decades making 4x4s that would totally rock if they didn't have such candy-assed axles/tcases/transmissions (primarily axles and transmissions).

[Edited on December 13, 2009 at 9:27 PM. Reason : i guess this CJ would prob be OK as long as you didn't lock the axles or put any bigger tires on]
