damn those are terrible. it looks like they just let a preschooler pick out pretty pictures to put behind letters. i hope they didn't spend money on that.how is aol still relevant? what do they do?

the managing partner/VP of one of the companies we do business with (one of our 50M+ net/year companies) uses an AOL account and absolutely refuses to use anything else because "they're so good"i know she pays for the service, but i'm not sure what services those are, if it's just email or that and something else[Edited on November 30, 2009 at 2:15 PM. you can get AOL just like you can get earthlink over a RR backbone.
11/30/2009 2:21:08 PM
and that might be what she has now...i know she's had it for at least 10 years now (maybe longer, but i'm not sure)there's still not a bit of added value for Aol. service over any other that i can find
11/30/2009 2:29:05 PM
You've got mayo!

I think their biggest problem is how their email service is the hugest spam repository in history. When I meet someone today who is still using an AOL.com email I immediately assume they are stupid.

From now on, auto-correct, spellcheck and T9 will correct Aol. to Lol. or LOL. Too bad.

i cannot get my dad off AOL, there needs to be some 12 step program for this
12/2/2009 12:53:58 AM
AIM
12/2/2009 12:58:28 AM
i'm not gonna lie i still use my aol account. the main reason being i've had the same email address since like '94 ( too much to change over). i have all the mail from my grown man email addresses sent to my aol.
12/2/2009 3:46:49 AM
My mom still pays for AOL dial-up even though she connects over DSL we have.

^^^Why? I mean, I understand keeping the email address, but why use the client?Get a Gmail address and use it to grab your AOL mail so people can still reach you. You'll thank me once you get used to the "new" interface and wonder how you ever stuck with AOL for so long.
12/2/2009 12:06:16 PM
I used to use aol radio in the kitchen to play music on my outside stereo. I wonder if hottubcomputer@aol.com is still registered.
12/2/2009 12:30:51 PM
you can use outlook to grab your aol mailno need for aol software anymore in my opinion
12/3/2009 12:36:15 AM
i understand why grandparents and maybe people from Namibia who've never seen electricity before might use aol, but other than that.... but an able bodied person using it on purpose just baffles meits pretty much just a web filter right?[Edited on December 3, 2009 at 12:57 AM. Reason : asd]

I thought AOL had died a long time ago... like, bankrupt/disbanded/stopping making anything besides aim... clearly I was wrong.
12/3/2009 12:57:25 AM
how do worthless things like this linger for so long but good companies that everyone loves have to struggle so hard. it boggles the mind
12/3/2009 12:58:36 AM
hey not trolling- what examples are you speaking of?
12/3/2009 9:50:43 AM
Aol is still alive cause old people learned how to use it and dont want to switchits that simple, you get a lot for being firstalthough it didnt do much for compuserv
12/3/2009 11:41:54 AM
^My uncle still uses compuserve although he forgot his password and they can't retrieve it for him because he forgot other required information (he's over 80 years old) so i set him up with gmail instead.
