should be ok since normal folks can't bttt threads that are nearly a year old or older.in fact, threads that are so old probably do not have up to date information anyway. For example, if I were curious about Rhesus Monkey Populations, and there was a thread about Rhesus monkeys last posted in 2005, a new thread should be allowed.[Edited on November 27, 2009 at 8:17 PM. I'll bring this up in the next board meeting.

We should also have a forum where you go and post feedback and suggest possible upgrades or improvements to the site. That sure would be nifty.

^^seriously though, this is sometimes true. if there's an older thread that had like 10 posts in it, i don't think it's that big a deal to make a new thread. but then again, if a mod decides to lock/trash the new thread and bumps the old thread instead, nobody should be taking it personally[Edited on November 27, 2009 at 9:51 PM. Reason : for some reason everybody acts like getting their thread moved is a slap in the face]

That's because it is a slap in the face, Ken. A hard and hairy backhanded slap in the face. [Edited on November 27, 2009 at 10:20 PM. Reason : .]

it wouldn't be so bad if the mods didn't PM you and talk shit about you, your mother, and her gimpy leg.I mean, that's taking it too far.[Edited on November 27, 2009 at 10:32 PM. Reason : my momma cant help how her leg be ]

this is not in reference to any of my threads... i've just noticed a lot of threads here in the lounge (which is why i made this thread here) where a thread has been locked, but any similar thread has expired long ago. i can see if there was a thread that us commoners could still bump... like if there was a question about zebras, and there was an "official zebra thread" only 30 days old... clearly it is a topic that is easily searchable, and the person should go ahead and post in the official zebra thread.however if there was a thread about "zebra print purses" which was 2 years old, a new thread is warranted.

perhaps some actual examples would help

i'm trying to look ahead here... i think you are on top of things in the lounge, but sometimes bringing back a thread over a year old (like the platform bed thread) is a little overkill. what do others think?
11/28/2009 8:31:23 PM
I agree. I mean, people DO need to search more..but in some cases it's easier to just make a new thread, esp if the old one doesn't have any relevant info anyways.

i typically try to not lock a new thread if it already has relevant information that the previous thread didn't have - when the new thread has basically nothing in it though i lock it just about every time ]]

The funniest lock ever was that one about skybus. I lol'd all over myself.

things i consider more of a slap in the face:when my sports talk threads get deleted when actually shitty troll threads don't
