http://www.thespec.com/News/Local/article/677721about two dozen kids at Burlington Central Elementary School were suspended late last week after allegedly taking part in "Kick a Ginger Day," which encourages people to kick those with red hair. But parents of some of those disciplined say the school's tactics for punishing the children -- which included a police presence and naming those who would be suspended out loud at an assembly -- are out of line.November 20 has been called "Kick a Ginger Day," a nod to a 2005 episode of the animated show South Park in which characters waged violence against redheads.lolLast week, coincidentally, was Bullying Awareness Week. There has also been a "Hug a Ginger" movement that's been born in reaction to the kicking day.

Police are totally unnecessary for dealing with children, but yeah, the little shitheads should be sent home for a couple of days or paddled or the like. The parents should be reprimanded and possibly fined or something similar.

if this had been a thing when I was in school, I probably would have playfully participated. it seems kinda going overboard to suspend kids for it (although of course it depends on how hard/malicious the kicks were).for me, though, this almost falls under "Pussification of America." you're probably not allowed to pinch people on St. Patrick's Day anymore either.
