Full unveiling tomorrow! Those lights look a lot better than the current hideous ones.

I think the current 5 series looks fantastic. Its certainly has aged very well.

The front grille of this car resembles that of the 5 series GT. That does not bode well for it.

what are you smoking, OEPII1??? The headlights on the current 5 series are sexy as hell! This one looks like they took too much from the newest fugly 7 series.

Lol, I love how there's no middle ground on the styling of the current 5 Series.

Personally I think it's one of the ugliest cars BMW has ever made, even worse than the last gen 7 series and current 6 series. The new one looks way better, unfortunately from what I can tell of spy photos the next 3 series is going to be the owner of the ugly stick.

Yea, like I said: The current 5 series has aged extremely well continuing the general BMW trend of designs that don't look outright dated within the same model run(sup Nissan, Audi).

I'm scratching my head trying to think of a BMW that I don't like.

I don't like the X3/X5/X6, but they're a fundamentally flawed genre of vehicle altogether--not anything that BMW specifically sucked at. In fact, I think they did a decent job with partially mitigating the retarded faggotry inherent to "crossover" SUVs.

Other than that, I pretty much like everything they've ever built, as far as I can think of (from the Isetta to M-cars of every variety).

^I think the X3, X5, X6 are very nice looking cars...nothing I'd own and I'm certainly not into those types of cars but they did a good job with that.

the 7 series is the only BMW I question in terms of appearance but the latest revisions with the headlights and trunk have improved it greatly

Mercedes and BMW both age very well.

Audi absolutely does not, nor do any Japanese luxury make.

^ In my opinion, Lexuses age pretty well. The original LS still looks good. And if the original SC were to go into production now, it wouldn't look out of place/time to most people. One of the most beautiful modern luxury coupes ever, and with a design decades ahead. The old IS still looks hot as well. And old GSs still look sporty and muscular.

The current 5-series is ugly (specifically, the head and taillights), and needs an M kit (or needs to be an M) to look nice. The headlights on this new one look more like the E39's, and that's a great thing.

Lexus doesn't look good new let alone aged...with the exception of very very few models.

^the headlights on the current 5 series are my favorite thing about it...and the tailights look fantastic!

What? Are you getting the image translated to braille ?

And no lexus doesn't age well given the fact that half their lineup looks like modified Camry's and Coralla's.

I think Audis age very well. Maybe I'm in the minority there, but I do. I'd still happily drive a 1st gen A8, late 90's A6, etc.

F10 revealed

http://www.worldcarfans.com/109112323205/2010-bmw-5-series-f10-sedan-revealed-video/lowphotos#24

E60 5-series does look and I agree that headlights are gorgeous, but for me to entirely like this car it has to come with optional 19” and M-package. Think of the ‘08+ 550i. Anything with stock 17” looks plain. new rear diffuser on E60 '09+ also looks very aggressive.

I think all Lexus models age very well. I personally do not like their styling simply because the target audience tends to be older, but 430 convertible is well ahead of its time in styling, even now. It is not a sporty, but classy design. Same with GS/LS series. My parents ES300 looks very good, considering it is 13 years old. IS300 still looks fantastic.

Actually, I'd have to go with the E34 with the wide kidney grill.

It doesn't get much better than that chase scene in Ronin.

E39 is one of my favorite BMW's.......specifically the 2003 Sport package with the M Parallel's. Of course the M5 is up there as well. I do agree with whomever spoke on behalf of the E60 550i sport package car.....that is in my top 5 favorite BMW models, a damn good looking car. I almost opted for one before turning in my resignation.....but even employee leasing was still outrageous.

I know this is a F10 thread, but does anyone else see nearly identical body lines from the F01 to the Lexus LS?

The M5 is going to be one mean machine.

^ Agreed.

OK, I love this new 5-series. Nice distinctive tail lights. And thankfully back to the nicely shaped grille as on the E39. Headlights and front are plain looking, but at least not ugly like the E60's. Nice side profile, except for weird the totally vertical nose as on the 7-series. Why are they making them vertically flat from the front? Click http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/11/p90053744_highres.jpg to see what I mean.

And here is something interesting:

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/29/bmw-builds-e34-m5-convertible-keeps-it-secret-for-20-long-years/

Quote :
"Think about it now -- the E34 M5 is the last of the totally hand built M cars. Sometimes one worker made an entire car, though usually the cars were built by specific teams. In fact, BMW test engineers could tell which person (or people) had built each individual car. That's pretty nifty. Only thing is, all those doors. And that roof! Who needs it? Sadly, it was only with the introduction of the E63 M6 that the big M cars got back to just two doors and a drop top. Or was it?

Turns out that back in the late '80s BMW built a convertible E34 M5 and they've kept it under lock and key for the past 20 years until showing it to a select group of journalists during a 25 years of M5 celebration. Based of the E34 chassis, the convertible version featured lengthened doors and was actually all set to go into production.

But then, just one week before its introduction at Geneva (they'd booked space for the car and everything), BMW pulled the plug and canceled the M5 convertible, fearing demand for non-M5 convertibles would cut into the highly profitable 3 Series convertible sales. Too bad, as this thing looks sweet. Also, if BMW pulls the long-rumored-though-(maybe)-never-built M8 out from some dark corner of the storage bin, well, we'll be pretty upset. Yet thrilled at the same time."

And forgot to say, some great engines!

535i with the TT six (300 hp)
550i with the TT V8 (400 hp)

And an M5 after a year or so with the X5M/X6M's TT V8 with nearly 600 hp (to beat the RS6's 580 hp).

AC Schnitzer 335d Coupe Breaks Diesel World Record in Nardo

Quote :
"AC Schnitzer's ACS3 3.5d Coupe has broken the world diesel speed record, at the Nardò test track in southern Italy.

The achievement occurred earlier this year, when an ACS3 3.5d posted a top speed of 288.7 km/h (179.4 mph). This is a full 8.7 km/h (5.4 mph) faster than the previous record, which was set back in 2006."

AC Schnitzer also make the fastest LPG car:

AC Schnitzer Builds Fastest LPG Car: GP3.10 GAS POWERED

Quote :
"The record-breaking concept, dubbed the GP3.10 GAS POWERED, clocked up a speed measurement of 318.1 km/h (197 mph) on a run on Southern Italy's 13 km long high speed Nardo track.

The design study transplants a modified M5 engine into the new BMW 3-Series coupe, turning the BMW M5's 552 hp or 406 kW ten-cylinder unit into that which powers the fastest vehicle on the planet to utilise liquid gas fuel."

They also make the world's fastest BMW.

AC Schnitzer Tension is Fastest BMW

Quote :
"After completing the GPS speed measurement on the 13 km long high speed test track, which is basically an oversized circle, the digital instrument display read 331.78 km/h (206 mph)! So the AC Schnitzer TENSION has done it. It is the fastest BMW in the world and is road legal."

"BMW Z4 GT3 coming in 2010 with M3 powerplant

BMW Motorsport has announced a lust-worthy addition to its growing line of customer racing offerings in the form of the BMW Z4 GT3.

Although BMW hasn't released pics yet, the factory-built Z4 will be powered by an uprated version of the M3's 4.0-liter V8 currently fitted to the race-ready M3 GT2. Controlled by a Type-408 ECU and Power400 control unit, the 4.0-liter V8 is good for a claimed 480 horsepower and sends its ample grunt through a standard six-speed sequential gearbox. Central-locking wheels, ABS and a host of other kit will allow the Z4 GT3 to campaign in a number of sanctioned events, including the FIA GT3 European Championship, International GT Open, ADAC GT Masters and several 24-hour enduros.

Deliveries begin in the second quarter of 2010, with an estimated price of 298,000 euro, or over $425,000 on a straight exchange. "

Wow.
