Is there a free and legal way?Basically you're not supposed to throw out CRT monitors or computers, as they might have some harmful chemicals in them. I've inquired into donating them but the hardware is too outdated for anyone to take it. Office Depot (i think) will "recycle" your CRT monitors, but they charge like $15 a piece. So are there any free and legal ways to dispose of old ass computers and monitors?[Edited on November 4, 2009 at 5:49 PM. Reason : *DISPOSING, with an I]

Drop them off at the Cary recycling/dump. Thats where i take all my shit and there is a guy there that will tell you where each item goes. It's free but for Cary residents, not that they check though.its near downtown cary. If you are on hillsborough coming from NC State...keep going straight past the Wake Med Soccer park, past downtown cary (don't blink you might miss it, past pure gold, then turn right on Dixon (there is a hand power wash car place at the corner) [Edited on November 4, 2009 at 5:53 PM. I usually bring it in to work and leave it near a lab, and the facilities people can deal with it. [Edited on November 4, 2009 at 6:04 PM. Reason : adfs]

Do you think a pawn shop would give me like a dollar a piece for old CRT monitors?

Best Buy does it. For large things you pay 10 bucks and get a 10 gift card, so in essence it is free.
