It seems that reddit didn't think the victim had the balls to, so someone called the cops for him. He later did decide to file charges, but it was out of his control by then.

The victim really didn't post that much info. Much like the case of that disgusting Wendy's restaurant video. The mob combined their collective knowledge better than any police detective, cross referencing the businesses in the background.
