So, it looks like CLEAR WiMAX will be finally coming to Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte (the latter of which already has CLEAR-branded 4G services) on December 1.http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20091014005816&newsLang=enThe prices are stupid. TWC wants you to bundle this with your existing coax internet, whereas I would want to replace this horrible service and its capped 40Kbps uploads with 4G altogether. I'm sure the pricing here will destroy all attractiveness.U-verse, please expand to the Triangle's outlying suburbs. Please.

yeah, i won't lock this one due to it being a better thread title.

Everytime I read TWC's 4G and 3G network I keep thinking AT&T. lol
10/15/2009 10:54:29 AM
i hope i never move back to a TWC service area ever again in my life.this is being rolled out as part of the Sprint/Clearwire deal from last year, both Comcast & TWC will be in on this deal of bundling it with their existing internet options.i'll wait for LTE to come out on Verizon and bundle it with FIOS, kkthx. screw crappy AT&T and Sprint.

I assume you live outside of the triangle?FiOS is still vaporware around these parts...

Hopefully they have decent drivers for Win7 out by the time they roll it out for you guys. I got the 4G card from Sprint to try out last week and they didn't have Win7 drivers yet, so I had to return it.There's only that one card with Sprint - maybe Clear and the others have other 4G devices. let us know how they work once you get them...[Edited on October 15, 2009 at 1:23 PM. well... when verizon sold off their landlines in NC, frontier said they *might* expand fios coverage... so at least there's a small sliver of hope or maybe more of NC will grow some balls and start their own municipal ISP/cable provider with FTTH like wilson did with greenlight ]

Sprint's 4G Coverage in NC:Truly unlimited for $69.99/month:I've got the u300 4G card, and it is pretty quick-I actually dropped Road Runner after 13 years
10/15/2009 10:39:15 PM
yeah thats the card i triedno win 7 drivers makes me
10/15/2009 11:26:41 PM
So you could just pop this card into your home desktop and use it as your main internet?I like CLEAR's solution better of giving you an at-home modem, but then again, that's not portable...

when everyone says "CLEAR," are they referring to clearwire?and if so, why do you keep calling it just "CLEAR"?
10/16/2009 8:16:00 AM
i always assumed it was clearwire, just rebranded to clear. they only write CLEAR on their product boxes, their employees' polo shirts, etc. so everyone has started calling them CLEAR... but I'm not 100% on whether they're the same company or their history
10/16/2009 9:50:53 AM
no, "Clear" service is the WiMax branch of Clearwire, but it's kind of branded as it's own company. The original Clearwire service is based on some kind of cell network I think, maybe 3G, i dunno. But it's not WiMax

i wonder if they'll be using the motorola USBw 200
