It's Pixar and it's Toy Story. On the other hand it's a part 3 and ^. It's got all the required Toy Story plot elements.
Dealing with abandonment √
Trying to restore Buzz (or a version of Buzz) to reality √

I hope it doesn't turn into the typical sequel that comes several years after the originals - where they just have a bunch of "remember that part from the originals" scenes.

Remember that part where Buzz thought he was real and didn't realize that he was a toy? ...That was awesome.

I wonder who they got to replace Jim Varney.

Plot content seems better than I was thinking, but gags are looking a little cheap.

Hmm I think it looks pretty good, seems like it would appeal to an older audience than the first one. Hopefully it's better than the second.

The second one is fantastic.

"Appealing to an older audience" is the kind of garbage that has made the Dreamworks movies so offensive to me. Instead of crafting quality stories that appeal to everyone by way of how engaging they are, they throw some double entendres on top of a cliche children's story and hope the adults in the theater won't be bored.

Pixar has always made films that stand up on their own for any viewer.

They were free when I got Toy Story 1 & 2 on bluray at Target ($17 for both, see slickdeals.net).

The fact that Pixar is continuing the time line and using the same voice actor for Andy is amazing and I love them for it.

So I was browsing RottenTomatoes and checked the scores:

Toy Story 1 - 100% - 70 reviews
Toy Story 2 - 100% - 147 reviews
Toy Story 3 - 100% - 112 reviews

Granted, I think the reviews for 1 and 2 came during the 3-D and bluray releases, but that's still pretty impressive.

*Note that 3's reviews keep coming in, but these are the numbers as of this posting.

Toy Story came out in 1995
Rotten Tomatoes came out in 1998
The earliest posted review on Toy Story's RT page is 2000

I was saying that the 100% ratings are probably affected less by the original theatrical run and more by the VHS/DVD releases as well as the 3-D rerelease.
Still, I realize that sometimes they do go and find reviews that came out before RT did.

I haven't seen How To Train Your Dragon, I'm sure it's great, but Cars is Pixar's worst movie and it's still very good. Hopefully Cars 2 will surpass it.

Case in point is "Up."

You would be hard pressed to find a more adult theme than in that movie, however they also made it appeal to children.

Cliche to say, but best movie of the year so far.

...And it'll be one of those trilogies that will turn into a classic.

I'm not trolling but am i the only one who thought toy story 1 & 2 were totally forgetable
the cgi movies i liked are more like incredibles, dragon, ants

toy story not so much, and neither wall-e, monsters inc , and some others

i still dont know why everyone sucks toy story's joystick so much

To me, Wall-E is hands down the best. Even though the ultra left message I couldnt stand... Still could see beyond it.

Toy Story is enjoyable, though. I'll be seeing it on video.

I was looking at reviews on RT and found a story that said right now they don't have plans for a Toy Story 4, but they are planning on bringing the characters back in some short films (maybe before other Pixar movies I guess). The only way I see them doing a 4th is if it is about another 10 year wait.
