Car has to have some torqueI really love the gto sound. Have considered the m3 anybody see any around. What are some trouble spots to consider on the cars that have been suggested?
10/13/2009 6:34:40 AM
with an m3 you could see a vanos failure, or subframe tear...but these are pretty unlikely. even if a vanos does go bad you can get a completely rebuilt one for ~$300 dollars. as far as a subframe tear goes; it would be pretty unlikely to happen on a car in your budget range, just because if it hasn't seen a tear on a car with that mileage it most likely will not happen. there is a rod bearing recall that should've been done, and i have yet to see one where it hasn't been done.this is for an e46. you could go get a lesser car, e36, if you really wanted. if four doors is something you're wanting the e36 of course comes in a sedan, also look at an e46 330i (zhp even better).seriously though, fuck e36s...

Is thrust "equal-to-or-greater-than" a speed3 an absolute requirement?

Reason : another reasonable pre-2001 m coupe]2nd edit: reply to quinn(^)...on paper, it looks overpriced (actually, when you stand next to it too... but behind the wheel is the revelatory standpoint), but it's a seriously slick car, and 250hp in that feels a lot more special than the 260+ in the speed3, unless the driver lives to fight torque steer. I drove a 2002 boxster S 2 weeks ago and loved it to pieces. really tempting.[Edited on October 13, 2009 at 10:35 AM. Reason : .]

I enjoy my 01 z06 on weekends. I think C5's are definitely becoming the new fox bodys - best bang for your buck

except a foxbody still manages to look better than a c5

What am i looking at reliability wise with the bmw m3?how about the boxters
10/14/2009 1:05:32 PM
What is wrong with the v8 audi S4's? Do they have a horrible design flaw? They seem very reasonably priced on the used market.
10/14/2009 2:27:54 PM
if you get a boxster i will find you and kill you.reliability with an m3...look at my previous post. my personal experience has been great. and the people i've met who also drive an e46 haven't had any problems either. also, having talked to jordan and some of the other guys at mpowered, i would say the reliability is high. none of them have ever seen a vanos go bad, or a subframe problem come through the shop.doesn't mean it can't happen to you though...
10/14/2009 2:30:15 PM
Show me some S4 links!
10/14/2009 2:31:47 PM
Speed 2 sucked
10/15/2009 7:35:43 AM
wait wait wait. let me get my head wrapped around this...you're asking about the reliability of all the cars mentioned, and then you turn around and ask for S4 links. you must be joking

i concur
