So today I was minding my own business playing Aion, when all of a sudden I the screen filled up with green pixels, turned into a kaleidoscope, then went black. Music and sound still worked, so I assume it's the vid card (nVidia 6800 Ultra, it's 5 years old). The heatsink had a lot of dust in it, and was blazing hot to the touch, so I'm assuming something is cooked.

I cleaned it out and let it sit. It's sort of working now, except the screen turns black every 5 seconds and CPU usage spikes to 100%.

Video card fucked, right? or is it something more serious?

lucky for me I literally have an entire new set of parts in the mail right now.

sounds like the video card is over heating. If you're getting new parts you can always swap video cards and eliminate anything else as the issue.
