Most jewelry stores stock chains that will fit your need. Go to your favorite and just ask a clerk.

a chain that thin is not gonna hold up much better than the silver wire; you snag it on a button and it's gone...you'd prolly be best off to have another loop attached

yeah with that sort of gauge you have to look at wire of some sort, most chains are just gonna come apart with much stress

I bought my wife a pendant on a chain about the size you're describing at the silver store (forget its exact name) in saltbox village in Cary. They seemed to have a good selection of necklace chain. don't let them talk to you about their stupid charm bracelets.
