Options, gentlemen?

I'm unsure what exactly that dented piece of equipment is. It looks like either some sort of oil cooler or brake cooler, but it will probably need replaced.

And before you ask, Mazdaspeed bumpers are at least $1500 painted.

So if it doesn't leak, I assume I'm good to drive it until I get a new one, right?

I would pressure test that oil cooler for leaks. you could probably get away with muggy weld on it.

It's just dented. The piping coming from it is fine. How exactly does it function? Does the oil go INTO and circulate through the cooler? I have to drive it work tomorrow whether or not it's badly damaged so... whelp.

If you've just dented the cooling fins, then you should be fine.

I rear-ended a van at about 5mph. He didn't want to do anything about it, so I lucked out.

I'm just trying to find the cheapest price now on any parts I'd need to replace, as I'm fairly sure I could do all the wrenching on this myself except for the painting.

I want to see if it would be cheaper to just report an at-fault accident, considering I have full coverage, an seeing if the insurance increase is cheaper than the cost to replace everything out of pocket.

it is never cheaper to report an at fault accident than to fix it yourself.

I was thinking that was probably right, I didn't know for sure though. Many companies have that "one time accident forgiveness" stuff, but I don't think I qualify with GEICO.

fog light shit would be about 250 and paint/blend and plastic weld about 700

Bulllllshit. I made a claim with GEICO in february. They paid out almost 10k. My rate went up $180 a year. Granted it's my only claim in 12 years of driving, but even so, I just got my money back.

it really depends on the insurance company. some insurance companies don't raise your rate unless the payout is above a certain threshold.

Possibly picking that up. It would be about $75.

Haha, fuck. I checked Onlinemazdaparts.com, the right oil cooler new is $502, the rubber mounting piece is $80, and adding up all the miscellanious mount parts would put it over $600. I'm really considering that eBay part.

Mazmart does used/wrecked RX8 parts. I had to replace the RR caliper on mine and the price was a fair 110 for one with 5k miles.

RX8Club.com has a vendor forum for them if you are a member. They are pretty responsive as I have ordered a few items from them.
