Anyone know if EGR related issues usually fall under power train warranties?
I have a 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 that has a "EGR flow insufficient" code.

its under emission equipment warranty which is longer than power train usually

your owners manual will say. most often its only the cat and maybe the pcm

I think emissions stuff has to be covered for 5 years/100k miles.

Cars 1995+...federally mandated 8yr/80,000 mile warranty on catalytic converters/ECU.

Other emissions components, like EGR, have a mandatory 2yr/24,000 mile warranty.

Ok... so the check engine light eventually went off. Then it started coming on and going
off ever so often. I finally realized that it's been coming on not too long after I fill up, and going off at about half tank (happens like this every time). I've been making sure that i've been putting the correct grade of gas and tightening the cap.

Has anybody ever had any experience with a situation like that? I know people have had problems with unscrewing the gas caps on mazdas. Sometimes they even break off. I was thinking the gas cap could be faulty on my car.

that shouldn't have anything to do with the egr system, what is the exact code number?

sounds like the differential pressure sensor is fucked up, or the valve is stuck, do you always get gas from the same place?

I have probably gotten gas at about 3 different places since it started happening.
I think the number is P0401. EGR Flow Insufficient.

check the wires, hoses, etc that connect to the egr solenoid and valve, and make sure the egr valve is tight and that the gasket isn't pushed out

also check your vacuum hoses around the intake, a mazda p0401 usually means excessive airflow at idle and its running lean, usually from a stuck egr valve or solenoid, or a vacuum leak
