Thread worthy ? I don't know, I don't careMoney move imo, Boston being close to BristolAnd I'm sure if Cal or Miami hadn't tanked last weekend, they'd be there to cover one of those games between top 10 teamsFine, do a nice feature on the kid with bone cancer, but don't go to the site of two mediocre teams that nobody cares about. Awful decision.
9/28/2009 11:01:05 AM
lol. why the fuck would they go to that shit hole.
9/28/2009 11:02:06 AM
wow. they might as well come to the duke/ncsu game the week after. ha[Edited on September 28, 2009 at 11:04 AM. Reason : a]

Guess they'll show the nation that great tailgating and gameday atmosphere.
9/28/2009 11:05:11 AM
Just a thought(and I haven't paid that much attention) but do they try to avoid doing gameday with the same team twice in a season? If so, they might be avoiding USC till UCLA USC which looks to be a good game, and OK till OK / Texas or another big Big 12 game.
9/28/2009 11:10:06 AM
They did Texas twice in a row last year, and 3 times in 4 weeks, and Oklahoma twice in a row later in the yearIt's a financially driven decision, IMO
9/28/2009 11:18:47 AM
Got it, work on Saturdays so I'm rarely home to watch Gameday anymore and really don't follow where they are as much now. Was just trying to figure a reason why they would be at that game.
9/28/2009 11:38:15 AM
Gameday usually has that one head scratcher weekend. Usually it's Army or Florida A&M like a couple years ago, but they always have a really good back story regarding the traditions or a really good reason for doing it there. I'm drawing a blank on anything aside from saving money.
9/28/2009 11:53:37 AM
Do you guys know who Mark Herzlich is? Do you know how ESPN loves to tell stories?
9/28/2009 11:56:54 AM
MAYBE, JUST MAYBE FSU and BC will actually play decent and not be further embarrassment to the conference^thats nonsense...why on ESPNU this weekend all they showed was footballoh yeah they also showed a dog's prosthetic leg, a fucking equine examination, something about anal polyps, etc[Edited on September 28, 2009 at 12:00 PM. 9/28/2009 12:00:06 PM
Ha, we get the same announcing crew for this weeks game vs WakeI want to see them do a continuing story line THE BUCK STOPS HERE
9/28/2009 12:02:24 PM
does it have something to do with TV contracts? it seems like they are always at the site of the 8pm game on ABC. i'm not sure what channel any of these games are on, but its just a thought.
9/28/2009 12:03:04 PM
FSU/BC is at 3.30 on ABCThey usually do the 8 o clock game since Kirk announcers and so he doesn't have to fly between sets on SaturdayThey have gotten shit in the past for not covering the the SEC games since CBS has that contract
9/28/2009 12:04:20 PM
they usually schedule the 8pm ABC game to line up with where gameday will be, i mean, usually the 8pm ABC game is the top game and that's usually where gameday goes
9/28/2009 12:08:08 PM
I'm guessing this is partially so they can hype the shit out of ESPNBoston.com
9/28/2009 12:08:58 PM
If they have Youkilis on as the celebrity picker I'm gonna shit

how is lee corso or whoever going to piss off the BC fans when they dont have any?
9/28/2009 1:19:45 PM
As for GameDay not going to the OU-Miami game, I don't know that they've been back to Miami since the 2000 VT-Miami game. It was, unsurprisingly, a fiasco and featured the most vulgar signs and behavior behind the guys the show has seen. Another consideration for the producers is surely the question of how many people will be in Miami Gardens some 10 hours before kickoff ? My guess would be about 2500 OU fans and about 4 Miami fans. It would not be good television. Not that BC is a mecca of college football enthusiasm. This is a clear example of ESPN's east coast bias and wanting to save a few bucks. The word "cancer" gives ESPN permission to do whatever it wants, such as lionize Jim Valvano, a man who got NC State placed on probation and was ultimately pushed out.Shhhh! You're not allowed to talk about Jimmy V's exit. Just his speech. Sort of like how Lou Holtz leaving nearly every job with the school on some form of probation is never brought up at ESPN.

you sound pretty fucking pettynever seen someone cry so much over where fucking gameday is and isn't[Edited on September 29, 2009 at 11:10 AM. Reason : .]

^^ Its a nicer way of calling him bitch made^Boston, closer to ESPN headquarter, cheaper to move the set and all the equipment that all the way down to Miami[Edited on September 29, 2009 at 11:24 AM. Reason : x]
9/29/2009 11:24:20 AM
if you really think it's about money, you're even dumber than you look. do yo really think TWWL gives two shits about moving sets when they make as much bank as they do? this is the same network that is forking over a billion plus for SEC games. god damn...that has to be one of the dumbest things ever said in ST. ESPN picks gamedays based on money.maybe, just maybe, the realized that FSU isn't much better, GT played like shit, and the "resurrection" of miami was overstated at best and dead wrong at worst. miami got fucking exposed. and cal/usc aren't much better. usc is a shell of its former self and cal looked like they didn't even care last weekend[Edited on September 29, 2009 at 11:31 AM. 9/29/2009 11:29:32 AM
Why else then, Kirk Herbstreit ?Why else would you go to Boston College for that game instead of the two aforementioned, or even LSU/Georgia ?And please don't say bone cancer
9/29/2009 11:31:46 AM
why not bone cancer? why is that so fucking hard for you to grasp?LSU/UGA could be good, but only because they're both overhyped and overrated as shit tooface it, there aren't a lot of really good teams this year
9/29/2009 11:32:48 AM
There is no justifiable football reason why Gameday would be on-site for two subpar ACC teams playing each other in one of the worst football atmospheres in any BCS conference. It's all about $ and the cancer story.Anyone who thinks this is a football decision is more ignorant than I thought. Period.Shit, Michigan-Michigan State would have been a better choice.
9/29/2009 11:33:21 AM
And you can do the Cancer story remotely. Its not something you need to be on-site for, like you would for looking at prosthetic dog legs.Just send Jeremy Schapp and a cameraman, and voila, there's your piece.Save the on site location for what the show is about...football.

Was I the only one who thought Iowa-PSU over Miami/VT was a head-scratcha?
9/29/2009 12:23:31 PM
9/29/2009 12:33:11 PM
^congrats, you two can't differentiate between using someone as an example of a fight against a deadly disease and whose lasting legacy on this planet has more to do with a cure than something as silly as a basketball game.^^the contract the Big 10 has with ESPN/ABC guarantees a night game on ABC. and i believe that after a certain point in the year, the big 10 doesn't schedule night games because of the cold climate. of course it worked out because the PSU/Iowa game was way better than the Miami/VT game^^^^i don't think anyone in the world would say it's about the game on the field[Edited on September 29, 2009 at 1:52 PM. its only a "silly basketball game" when you are referring to "certain 'icons'"but its ok theres plenty of room under that rug to sweep shit under
