I think she was referring to Burt's Bees and Dr. Bronner's. I would like to see the contributions of Goldman Sachs.Chrysler and GM both contributed to the right too. The thing is, the unions =/= the corporations. Unions are overwhelmingly Democratic in their contributions. I guess the question is, what data set did they use? ]

UPS is probably one company where the status quo is going to be the best for their industry. At best the dems do nothing to them, at worst they increase their healthcare and fuel costs.

^UPS's healthcare costs are skyrocketing in January. Switching providers and cost is just about doubling. It used to come standard without a charge to the individual employee. Free prescriptions and all doctors visits were covered. Now it barely covers anything!BUT I am not surprised by the Republican donations. Most of the people not working in the hubs are conservatives anyways.

i meant cost to the corporation, not individuals. I was thinking along the same lines as wolfpackgrrr that the charts are about corporate donations, not individual donations from workers by corporation. out of curiosity, what provider did they switch from and to?

Currently Aetna, was United Healthcare last year, we don't know what it will be next year yet.And what I meant was, when the majority of your corporation is right leaning, the corporation itself is going to tend to be that way as well. Not that individuals would make donations. And the cost of healthcare is already increasing for the companies, and instead of eating it, they're passing that on to their employees. I had united until our company split from our parent (we're on anthem now). I paid something like $50 a mo for the united plan (single). I went to the doctor for a routine checkup and forgot my fsa card thing so i put my copay on my debit card. United mailed me a check for the copay without me asking. thought that was kinda cool. Haven't used the anthem one, but its an HSA plan. No out of pocket monthly cost to me except for what i want to put into my hsa. The deductable is a little higher than the traditional plan, but all preventative care is covered 100% and I dont have any chronic conditions so it works for me.Its probably the 3rd or 4th time we've changed providers since i've worked here (6 years). I dont know anything about UPS's corporate structure or philosophies so i just figured their reasons for supporting the reps was fiscal instead of social like most large companies.[Edited on September 28, 2009 at 11:50 AM. What year was this data collected? I bet that a lot of those companies have shifted left as the Democrats swept Congress and the White House. Corporations aren't stupid: with the exception of a couple where ideologically has a strong impact on the bottom line, most companies will court the majority party to curry favor with them, especially if it looks like the minority party isn't coming back to power anytime soon. They all know which way the wind blows.There are exceptions with regards to companies with a lot to lose from the other guys being in charge (auto makers and oil cos. for example), but most are pretty malleable. Look at NewsCorp. Murdoch backed Hillary last time.
