In the last two months my car's stereo has been cutting off randomly then coming back on two seconds later. It usually happens when I brake or when I'm going slowly (< 25 mph) down a street. It doesn't happen every single time, but it seems to happen more when it's hot outside.Any idea what's going on? I drive a '97 Honda Civic EX. What's the best place to get this fixed?

aftermarket, a Sony stereo. It's hooked up to a subwoofer, but i don't remember the brand of that.

This may not be the problem, but I saw this in my 92 dodge pickup. You saying it happens more when its hot made me think of it.The guy who owned the truck before me installed a stereo himself, and when he did it, he messed up one of the A/C vents and didnt get it properly connected back. When i ran the A/C full blast, condensation would build up on top of the stereo and when I braked or accelerated, the condensation would roll off, shorting the radio for a second or two.Once i repaired the vent, it went away.It might also be loose connection related and when its hot, the connection expands a little and makes it worse, but just throwing out what mine happened to be.[Edited on September 28, 2009 at 1:17 PM. check the grounds. and i don't mean just check to make sure they still exist. i mean check them by pulling on them, wriggling them, and just trying to make them move. they need to be tight with no movement at all. and check every ground you can think of which should include the radio, amp, and any other accessory you may have.
