Andrew Alberts, #41. 6-5, 218 pounds. He is a nasty physical defenseman who is slower than molasses. Brings much needed toughness. Signed as an UFA from Philadelphia.



Tom Kostopoulos, #29. For the first time in ages, we have a legitimate 4th line. A hard hitting pest with a little bit of scoring ability. Signed as an UFA from Montreal.



Aaron Ward, #4. Another one of those homecoming players that we love so much. Ward is back for his second stint and we all know what he can do as a gritty shut down defenseman. Traded from Boston.



Stephane Yelle, #18. Keeping with the theme of trying to put together a team with grit, we add one of the best veteran checking centers in the game. Kills penalties, blocks shots, and is a winner. Signed as an UFA from Boston.

After another solid draft in June, and winning the Traverse City Prospects Tournament this month, things are looking up for the future. Cole looked impressive, I thought. He was fast... Conboy actually showed some scoring touch, I bet he potted as many as anyone else during the drills. Wallin and Alberts did drills together the entire team, probably a sign of things to come. Leighton made some flashy saves.

I think there were several hundred people there, it was very impressive.
