run your license plate, find you through the DMV, and bill you just like any other parking service.of course, then add interest on top of it that will only increase the longer you don't pay.and if you wait too long, they can even have your license revoked.[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 2:45 PM. for what its worth, I got a parking ticket at UNCA like 7 years ago and never saw a thing about it...
9/10/2009 2:45:15 PM
accept your responsibility as a citizen in a civilized society and pay the fucking ticket
9/10/2009 2:50:02 PM
^^^Additionally (this is from parking enforcement, because I've asked them, when we had non-students parked in a fire lane, and I anticipated the 'I'm not a student, so yall can't make me pay! Neener!' attitude), the fine + any interest chosen can be withheld from state tax refunds.

what a price for pimpin the RX7, eh?
9/10/2009 3:18:12 PM
^^yep! or even scooped directly from your bank account[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 3:27 PM. Reason : and the source of my knowledge is the collections attorney that writes my paycheck.]
9/10/2009 3:25:52 PM
yeah, but that requires a judgment that's more trouble than just keeping a refund check [Edited on September 10, 2009 at 3:40 PM. Reason : ...right?]
9/10/2009 3:40:16 PM
yeah either after confession of judgment has been signed w/ no payment or default judgment. after writ attempts, you can get a judge to sign an order in aid of execution for the sheriff to levy on any bank accounts. it's a bit more costly as far as court filing fees and sheriff fees, but w/ the same effect.the fun part is getting a license revoked though...people usually pay pretty quick after that
9/10/2009 3:53:24 PM
i thought they just sent you to collections to be hassled?
9/10/2009 4:03:46 PM
As a state agency, why bother?
9/10/2009 4:10:47 PM
Back when I was in school they woudl block registration through the DMV until the ticket was paid.
9/10/2009 5:20:05 PM
bottom line, they will get the money that you owe them.
9/10/2009 9:15:15 PM
9/10/2009 10:36:12 PM
Just pay it or else it's going to cost you more in the long run when the have to track you down.
9/10/2009 11:05:58 PM
i don't know about ncsu but i got a ticket from u kentucky a while back and never heard anything from them....
9/10/2009 11:40:47 PM
Did you at least appeal it? Say you didn't see any signs and thought you could park there? If you don't appeal it, expect to see a bill soon. That said, we got one at UNC-CH that we never paid. Eventually they gave up and stopped sending bills.
9/11/2009 8:22:53 PM
^ and sent it to a collections agency
9/12/2009 3:15:39 PM
^No, they didn't. A parking ticket isn't like a credit card bill for something that you bought and are now not paying for. And it never showed up in our credit report. We had appealed it in the first place because it was BS, then we wrote a letter when we got the first bill restating our case disputing the ticket and saying we wouldn't pay it. They kept sending bills, we kept ignoring them, and eventually they went away.

The RPD does have a Gestapo tactical unit built specifically to take down anyone who doesn't pay their parking tickets.NCSU does belong to this jurisdiction.
9/12/2009 11:53:05 PM
Probably nothing happens. At UNCW they ticket your car, but if it hasn't ever been registered with the school they have no idea who you are. They just hope you pay the ticket back and you can throw it away. I guess the only issue would be if you had a whole bunch then they'd boot you.

Despite the evidence here, I am almost positive that Child Support and Student Loans, and a limited amount of "Government Services" were the only things that NC could legally withhold from a tax refund or pull out of your paycheck.I hear that there's testimony here from a collections attorney, but most of those guys are thuggish morons to begin with, so I really don't trust that. I also don't see them being able to do anything with your actual license. They could MAYBE stop you from renewing your registration, but even that I think is reserved for tax holds.I got a ticket in Raleigh last time I had a court date a few years ago, and I let it ride. A parking collection place sent me a bill later for like 80 bucks. I sent them the amount of the original ticket and told them to kiss my ass. Never heard back, they were probably elated to get anything.

I have multiple unpaid traffic tickets from City of Raleigh and one from UNC-W. I used to get letters about them but even those have stopped, I have been pulled over multiple times and had to renew plates and registration etc with no problems. I think after you rack up a couple in a specific jurisdiction they will just tow your car next time its parked illegally and you have to pay them all to get the car back but other than that they do not do anything.
9/14/2009 10:20:06 AM
This might sound dumb...but I think it depends on the school. For some reason I think certain schools might go the extra mile and affiliate themselves with the city so you have to pay the ticket or they could fuck you over.Got a couple tickets at UNC-Ch, and they found me everywhere I lived for a year or two, sending letters/notices/warnings until I paid up. Got a couple tickets at UNCW and College of Charleston and haven't heard a thing in three years.

I got a parking ticket recently and if it weren't for the fact that i live in the city i would not have paid.If i got a ticket on campus at UNCW i'd throw in the trash.
