Our company runs Quick Books 8 (i know, its fail but beyond my control) and is hosted on a central server here. I'd like to do some tweaking on the server to speed up queries and reports for users who are logged in.

I've been reading the QB forums but most of the problems see really small scale and no where near where we are at. My next solution would be to move everything to its on server and seperate the file server from the QB server.

Anyway, post any tips you may have.

what version quickbooks and what OS on the server?

yeah, ideally it would have its own server with a separate db

have you thought about moving it to a virtual machine or something?

Quick Books 8 Manctf. & Whole Sale Edition (R10 - updated)

The server is running 2003 Windows Server Standard Edition

2x3.4 Ghz Intel Pent D, 8 GB of RAM

I thought about taking the antivirus hog off (symantec end point, once again done before i started working for them). We've upgraded the ram and put in another processor. My only next solution would be to setup a RAID or just get another server for QB only - maybe a linux setup? or maybe the VM?
