9/1/2009 10:19:31 PM
Vote for the national forests/seashores/wildlife reserves too, but not monuments, but also name a park

Cape Hatteras national seashore is one of my favorite places to vacation, but I've never been to a national park except if I was just driving through.

I'm watching a PBS special about some of the western parks. It's so cool. And then they mention places outside the parks, and I can be like I BEEN DERE!
9/1/2009 10:38:01 PM
Zion was awesome. Me in the narrows:
9/1/2009 10:38:21 PM
I turned down a job in both Bryce and Zion last year
9/1/2009 10:39:37 PM
considering one of the most visited national parks is in this state (Smokey Mountain National Park), there is no excuse!nevermind all the goodness that is out west
9/1/2009 10:40:58 PM
Gettysburg is pretty awesome if you're into the Civil War.
9/1/2009 10:43:02 PM
But not so cool if you were in the Civil War.

Man there's so many good ones it's hard to choose.I'd have to say Yosemite or Redwood. I want to check out Glacier some time.

Yes, still vote for a park. But forests/seashores/national wildness areas...also all totally cool.Rocky Mountain National Park is like Glacier, actually. And right outside/around it is Roosevelt National Forest. I like it pretty well, too.[Edited on June 23, 2010 at 8:40 PM. Reason : http://nationalparkquarters.com/national-park-quarters-release-dates/]

so far it is:but I have never been to any of those out west- I have a feeling I would really like some of those...
6/23/2010 9:08:38 PM
not my picture, but I've been here a few times:There isn't one portion of Escalante that is just mind-blowing, its everything about it. Calf Creek is an amazing area to spend a few days camping, there are so many awesome hikes (upper calf creek falls, pictured above, and lower calf creek falls jump to mind). Even the drive in is amazing. Also, Yellowstone, but its so cliche. I would love to go back now that I'm older and can appreciate it more though, the only time I've been I was something like 10 years old. I'm guessing i could spend at least two weeks there, easily.I would love to see Glacier, its on my top 10 to visit.Dinosaur is an amazing place. My aunt was a paleontologist there for a while, so every time I went I always got the behind the scenes stuff at the visitor's center (before it closed down) and access to all the restricted areas.edit: I took some liberties with "park", Escalante and Dinosaur are both national monuments. Not sure what the distinction is, I know there is one though[Edited on June 23, 2010 at 9:26 PM. Reason : ]

Everglades is my favorite because a) reptiles and amphibians abound and b) the weather can still be nice in mid-December and c) it's the only NP I've recently been to.Yellowstone was pretty mind-blowing, but it's been something like 15 years since I was there. There are many others I'd like to visit if I ever get the chance.
6/23/2010 9:44:53 PM
Yellowstone is definitely my favorite. My dad lives like an hour from it so its a nice trip
6/23/2010 9:46:25 PM

^^ i really want to get down there
8/1/2010 2:34:36 PM
probably yellowstone because there is so much variety, those hot springs at yellowstone were really awesome, but grand tetons has always been a personal favorite of mine, also black canyon is underrated I actually liked it better than the grand canyon which I thought was a little overrated but maybe I just didn't see enough of the grand canyon
8/1/2010 3:18:13 PM
I miss Hayden Valley and the herds. Another trip is needed, soon.
9/19/2010 2:40:23 AM
National Seashore = National Park ? They're both federal reserves
9/19/2010 3:22:08 AM
There are many awesome/breathtaking parks in AK but I still like Zion or even grand canyon. I guess living in AK gave me an appreciation for deserts
9/19/2010 3:32:05 AM
I really want to go to Zion, Yellowstone, and Sequoia National Park. (Glacier is on my list, too, and I better get to that quick before it all gets fucked up)[Edited on September 19, 2010 at 5:52 AM. Reason : the grand canyon was AWESOME]
