Poll: Either GOP challenger could topple Harry ReidSunday, Aug. 23, 2009

So, none of you will defend the Senate majority leader, a Democrat? Revealing.
8/26/2009 9:27:05 AM
Honestly, it's not surprising. Nevada is a red-leaning state, and Harry Reid is going to be the one who Independents, as well as conservative Democrats, see as a main part of whatever problem that they associate with Washington right now.If Pelosi wasn't in such a liberal state herself, you'd most likely see the same numbers with her.Since Obama has come in, Reid hasn't been that much of a leader in the Congress, letting Pelosi pave the way. He needs to figure out how to lead again if he expects for his poll numbers to improve.
8/26/2009 9:42:53 AM
^^ how many times have pretty much every liberal here agreed that we don't like Pelosi and Reid? I know that's a hard concept for you to understand. You know, that someone of one political party doesn't automatically and feverishly defend a politician of the same party, no matter how shitty, corrupt, or ineffective they are.
8/26/2009 9:50:20 AM
i don't like reid. but at least pelosi gets her votes most of the time. but senate majority leader is a tougher assignment than speaker. it'd be soooo much better if he'd just make the republicans actually stand up and filibuster. something tells me they'd threaten it a lot less if that were the case.

^^^ Great post.^^ Okay, okay. Damn.^ Good post, too.

It seems like it surprises you that the liberal leaning members of TWW a) can form a coherent and well thought out point and b) don't fall in line with every member of the democratic party....
8/26/2009 10:12:49 AM
^ Concerning the latter, sometimes it does.

Look, I swear to you on all that is good I am setting aside politics and ideology for this statement:I do not like Reid as a person or his policies. I do not like Pelosi as a person or her policies. I find Joe Biden entertaining, but I disagree with his policies and I think he is a doofus and a shortcut taker. I can't help but like Obama, but I disagree with his policies and worldview. I also think that Obama will say or do anything that he finds to be politically expedient.

Reid hasn't been in a strong political position for a long time. Even in 2008, there were calls for replacing him as Senate Majority Leader with someone else. I sympathize for him; trying to rally votes in the Senate is like herding cats, but he's not the strongest of leaders in the Democratic Party.
8/26/2009 10:41:43 AM
.^^ I guess I just meant that I find Obama to be likeable. And likeability has helped can helped many a politician through rough times. http://topanmoon.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/bill-clinton-photograph-c10102849.jpegYou're fucking A, Bubba!^

Anarchism is a political philosophy encompassing theories and attitudes which consider the state to be unnecessary, harmful, or otherwise undesirable, and favor instead a stateless society or anarchy.[1][2][3][4][5][6] Individual anarchists may have additional criteria for what they conceive to be anarchism, and there is often broad disagreement concerning these broader conceptions. According to The Oxford Companion to Philosophy, "there is no single defining position that all anarchists hold, and those considered anarchists at best share a certain family resemblance."[7]i am ready.

Harry Reid would benefit tremendously by just letting the Sharron "Obtuse" Angle continue to implode. If he doesn't run ads showing her straight up stupidity and flip-flopping on her positions then he doesn't deserve to be senator. This should be an overhead winner for him.[Edited on August 13, 2010 at 10:58 AM. Reason : tennis > basketball]

Libertarians are so concerned about the constitution but have no problem abolishing the very first, most important amendment. Reid is a sellout trying to get re-elected. I guess his next step is to approve of carding any brown people spotted in public.

We desperately need a law to prevent unrelated social and economic issues from being included in the same bill. If politicians want to wheel and deal across different bills (I won't vote for your bill if you don't vote for mine) so be it, but stuffing a fucking line item in a bill meant to fund our military dealing with alien minors has to be one of the most assinine things I have ever heard. I haven't followed political minutiae for but a couple years, how long has a tactic like this been used?
